PASS South will Sizzle Orange County Saturday

NAPLES ME (6/22) Summer has arrived, school is out and that means it’s time for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South super late models to head for the North Carolina/Virginia line to Rougemont North Carolinas’ beautiful Orange County Speedway on Saturday June 26th.

The Summer Sizzler will feature 150 green flag laps of super late model thunder delivered by the South’s fastest short track stars and full fender cars. There are several drivers that are on a roll and a bunch more that are looking to carry their first Sunoco checkered flag of the season.

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (June 23, 2010) – Over the course of his nine-year NASCAR Sprint Cup Series career, Ryan Newman has enjoyed some magical moments at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon. After all, the 1.058-mile flat track commonly known as “The Magic Mile” was the site of Newman’s first point-paying Sprint Cup victory during his rookie season in 2002. On that September afternoon, the South Bend, Ind., native started from the pole and dominated the rain-shortened race, leading 143 of 207 laps.

(June 22, 2010) – Miller Lite Dodge driver Kurt Busch has found somewhat of a competitive stronghold on the flat 1.058-mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway in recent years, recording a win and posting a 4.0 average finish during the last four races there. The 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion and three-time winner at NHMS is focused on keeping that successful streak going in this weekend’s LENOX Industrial Tools 301 at the “Magic Mile.”

Hudson Race Report 6/20/10

Hudson NH – Chad Wendell and Keith ‘Slika’ Ennis were both first time winners at Hudson International Speedway this past Sunday June 20th.

Wendell won the Thunder Light feature in his sixth career start following in the footsteps of his dad Mitch Wendell and brother Dean Wendell who have both visited victory lane many times in their own careers. Wendell took over the points lead with his win and hopes to continue another Wendell family tradition by collecting the championship hardware at season’s end like his dad and brother have. Erica Page ran well but didn’t have enough to catch Wendell and brought her pink Ford Escort home second. Third through fifth were Dylan Beecher, Dan Smith and John Daughenbaugh.

Landry wins PASS Sportsman Family Feud: Oliveira breaks through with PASS Mod win

NAPLES ME (6/21/10) Sunday’s racing card at Unity (ME) Raceway featured all three of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North touring divisions and some great racing broke out in both the Sportsman and Mod features, punctuated by some serious bouts of yellow fever.

Mike Landry claimed his first feature win of the season, passing “Cousin Dan” McKeage on the 75 lap feature’s final restart for the race lead. Shane Tatro raced home in third; Scott Dorr and Craig Smith finish fourth and fifth.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Winner Keselowski enters TD Bank 250

OXFORD, Maine – Brad Keselowski, who pilots the number 12 car for Penske Motorsports in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, has announced his entry in the TD Bank 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway on July 18.

Qualifying for the famed race begins at 2 pm on race day, with the main event scheduled for 6:30.

Keselowski emerged as a force in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2008 while driving for Dale Earnhardt, Jr’s JR Motorsports. He finished third in points that year notching two wins. He followed up that effort with a third place finish in the Nationwide Series points in 2009. His success in the Nationwide Series led to a ride in the Sprint Cup, which he capitalized on with a win at Talladega. His Talladega win was the defining moment of his young career. In 2010, Brad is running both a full Nationwide Series schedule in addition to his Sprint Cup duties. Keselowski currently sits as the leader in the Nationwide Series points and in twenty-fourth position in the Sprint Cup. In addition to his success on the track, Brad has quickly endeared himself to NASCAR fans as they chose him the Nationwide Series Most Popular Driver in 2008 and 2009. (more…)

Eddie MacDonald Wins Second ACT Tour at OPS

Oxford, ME – Rowley MA’s Eddie MacDonald took the checkers in the second ACT Late Model Tour event at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday, June 19. MacDonald led the last 43 laps of the 150 lap event after taking the lead from current ACT Late Model Tour point leader Brian Hoar.

Ricky Rolfe would claim second, TJ Brackett third, Corey Morgan fourth and Hoar would hold on to fifth. Tommy Ricker, Brent Dragon, Tim Brackett, Jeff White and Austin Theriault completed the top ten.

The 150 lap event was completed with just four cautions and took one hour and four minutes. A total of 50 cars attempted to qualify with 33 making the starting grid. All but two were on the track for the checkered flag.

Tony Andrews Claims Thunder Road Harvest Twilight Win

Barre, VT – Northfield’s Tony Andrews claimed his third career Thunder Road Late Model win on the final Sunday twilight special sponsored by Harvest Equipment on Sunday, June 20. Andrews led the 50 lap event flag to flag but not without pressure from Grant Folsom and Senator Phil Scott after a restart with just 6 laps remaining.

Scott would settle for second and Folsom took third followed by Dave Whitcomb and Joey Becker rounding out the top five. John Donahue, Dave Pembroke, Reno Gervais, Nick Sweet and Cris Michaud completed the top ten.

Unity, Maine – Veteran racer Ed ‘Fubby’ Drake of Vasalboro outran his Late Model division rivals and Sidney’s Kevin Douglass prevailed in an extended, 40-lap main event for the Monster Energy Drink Monsta Mini class, topping the stock car racing card Saturday night at Unity Raceway. Victory lane at Maine’s Toughest Racing oval also played host to Nate Weston of Madison, Bryan Robbins of Montville, Ben Clark of Clinton, Justin Moore of Madison, Chelsea Young of Winterport, Cole Robinson of Clinton and George Fernald III of Benton in front of the season’s largest crowd, to date.
