BARRE, VT – The 50th Anniversary Season Celebration at Thunder Road International Speedbowl will continue with next week’s doubleheader. The action will begin on Thursday, August 13th with Vermont ACE Hardware Dealers Night featuring the Tiger Sportsmen Tri-State Series 100. It will be the third and final event on the Tri-State Series 2009 schedule. The Late Models, Street Stocks and Junkyard Warriors are also on the stock car racing card. Post time is set for 6:30pm.
The doubleheader will continue on Friday, August 14th with the Pepsi Night make-up event. Fans that bring their ticket stubs from the Thursday night event will receive an admission discount on Friday (Adults $5, Kids under 12 free). Immediately following the racing will be a 50’s/60’s sock hop, costume contest and hoola-hoop contest. All fans are invited down to the pit area for the festivities and 50 cent drinks and hot dogs from Al’s concession stand. Post time is 6:00pm.
The season is winding down so don’t miss out on all the fun next Thursday and Friday at Thunder Road International Speedbowl.
Also this Sunday, August 9th is the 25th Annual M&M Beverage Enduro rescheduled from August 2nd. Over 100 cars have already entered, including Barre Mayor Thom Lauzon. Come watch 250 laps of mayhem with the winner walking away $5,000 richer. Post time is 6:00pm.

Thompson, CT (August 6, 2009): A strong crowd filed into the Thompson International Speedway for a Thursday night jam-packed with NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action. In a twin bill for the Sunoco Modifieds, Ted Christopher of Plainville, CT, and Todd Ceravolo of Gales Ferry, CT, each scored victories in the 50-lappers. George Bessette of Danbury, CT, broke into victory lane for his first of the season in the Super Late Models.
Tommy O’Sullivan of Springfield, MA, made it look easy with his victory in the Late Models. Scott Sundeen of Douglas, MA, earned his second of the season in the Limited Sportsman division while Brian Sullivan of S. Windsor, CT, took down his fourth TIS Modified win of the season. Tim Taylor of Wauregan, CT, continued his domination of the Mini Stock division with his sixth win of the 2009 season.
Ted Christopher of Plainville, CT, was the first to cross under the checkers to score the victory in the opener for the Sunoco Modifieds. The veteran took it all in stride and even with a little humor when he was greeted with a barrage of boos in victory lane.
After a failed attempt at a start, Rowan Pennink grabbed the lead on the opening lap but immediately felt the pressure from Jimmy Blewett. Point leader Woody Pitkat stalled on a restart on lap 6, after a caution for Andy Gaspar, to bring out the events second caution. Pitkat was able to rejoin the tail end of the field.
Blewett was the new leader to complete lap six. The second spot was being hotly contested by Pennink, Danny Cates, Ted Christopher, and Keith Rocco. The top ten ran nose to tail. Rocco had made his way into the second spot by lap 10. The best battle was for the third spot between Pennink, Malone, Christopher and Cates. Tim Sullivan had joined the mix as well. On lap 13, Rocco began to look low on Blewett. Things settled down with Pennink in third followed by Malone, Christopher, and Cates.
On lap 16 the caution flew when the #47 of Carl Oberg came to rest against the outside wall in turn three. The restart shuffled the running order slightly but not for Blewett and Rocco. A melee on the backstretch that involved Andrew Charron, Wayne Arute, Andrew Dzenkowski, Frank Hirt III, and Andy Gaspar slowed the action.
Pennink found some running room in the outside lane motoring back into the second spot on the restart. Malone followed through into third ahead of Rocco. A spin by Harry Rheaume slowed the action once again. Blewett was shuffled back after the restart. Pennink held the top spot momentarily before giving way to Malone. The top three positions were now occupied by Malone, Christopher, and Pennink. Cates was back on the charge; moving into the third spot at halfway.
Back up front, Christopher got up along side Malone. Christopher put his #00 in the top spot just after halfway. Pitkat entered the mix joining the battle for the fourth position with the likes of Pennink and Rocco. Rocco passed Pennink and into fourth. During a long green flag run, Christopher and Malone were able to edge away from Cates in third.
The caution flew on lap 35 when Eric Goodale lost a motor spinning in his own fluid. Under the caution Pitkat and Pennink both hit pit road for service. Christopher resumed his place at the head of the pack once back under green. Cates slipped back on the restart allowing the top three of Christopher, Malone and Rocco to break away. Rocco was looking racy in second. With ten laps remaining Pitkat had worked his way into the fifth spot. Blewett ran in sixth.
In the closing stages the top three ran nose to tail with a half straightaway advantage over Cates, who enjoyed a comfortable advantage over Pitkat. On the final two laps the top three began to jockey for position. Malone peaked low on Christopher, who had to settle for second. Rocco pushed Malone underneath the white flag. Christopher was able to take down the win narrowly over Malone, Rocco, Cates, and Pitkat.
Through the generosity of Independent Truck Service of Shrewsbury, MA, who put up an extra $2,000 up on Thursday night, five drivers, who were randomly selected by a drawing of finishing positions before the start of the race, received a $200 bonus after their performance in the opening event. Danny Cates, Glenn Griswold, Jodi Johnson, Todd Ceravolo and Andrew Dzenkowski were each beneficiaries of the bonus.
Todd Ceravolo completely turned his night around going from a DNF in the opener to the winner of the night capper for the Sunoco Modifieds. Pennink once again brought the field to the green flag. Right away he had his hands full with Malone and Ceravolo. Christopher was making his way toward the front from deeper in the pack as Rocco was motoring into the lead.
Rocco edged out to a three-car length advantage over a heated battle for second between Pennink and Ceravolo. Christopher had passed Malone for fourth and immediately reeled in the battle for second. It quickly became a three car battle for the position. Ceravolo got underneath Pennink on lap 16 to move into second. Christopher followed suit putting Pennink back to fourth. Rocco continued to lead but Ceravolo looked to be catching him as they entered lapped traffic.
With the crossed flags in the air at the flag stand, Ceravolo made a slingshot move entering turn three to take the lead away. At halfway, Ceravolo led Rocco, Christopher, Pennink, in a distant fourth, Malone, Danny Cates, Pitkat, Tim Sullivan, Jimmy Blewett, and Harry Rheaume inside the top ten.
Ceravolo began to build an advantage over an emerging battle between Rocco and Christopher. Christopher dove low on Rocco in turn two on lap 32 to gain the second position. Once free of Rocco, Christopher, little by little chopped into Ceravolo’s lead. The remainder of the top ten was strung out throughout the Speedway.
The final run to the checkers was smooth sailing for Ceravolo, who earned his first win of the season since Icebreaker Sunday back in April. Christopher capped off a great night with a runner-up finish. Rocco settled for a pair of third place finishes on the night. Pennink and Sullivan completed the top five.
Ceravolo once again received one of the Independent Truck Services bonuses for his efforts in the second feature. Woody Pitkat, Harry Rheaume, Carl Oberg, and Eric Goodale each also received a $200 bonus.
George Bessette made quick work of the early leader Jay Macedonio to take over the top spot. Bessette immediately began to stretch his lead. Rick Fuller had maneuvered his way into the second position but could not bite into Bessette’s lead.
Mike O’Sullivan picked his way through traffic and into the third position. It was not an easy ride to the front as the right read fender was flapping in the breeze. Officials deemed the car safe for competition. Jeff Connors ran alone in third. Mired deeper in the pack the likes of Norm Wrenn, Derek Ramstrom worked tirelessly to make tracks to the front. The duo of Wrenn and Ramstrom caught Connors making it a three-car battle for the fourth spot.
The first caution of the event flew with only five laps remaining when Dave Silvia lost the handle making hard contact with the inside retaining wall. The caution erased the large lead that Bessette had amassed. Bessette was up for the challenge and immediately put some distance between himself and Fuller. The run was for naught as contact between Connors and Wrenn for the fourth caused Connors to spin and the caution to wave. Wrenn was penalized for the contact. Unphased by the caution, Bessette cruised out to the lead once again and ultimately to the checkers. Fuller settled for second over O’Sullivan, Ramstrom, and Macedonio.
Tommy O’Sullivan of Springfield, MA, took the lead and would never be headed en route to his second win of the season. The early going featured a fierce battle between Mark Oliveira and O’Sullivan. After a side-by-side battle, O’Sullivan took over the top spot on lap five. A battle for the third position between John Materas and Corey Hutchings got too hot as Materas spun in turn four to bring out the caution. Hutchings was sent to the tail end of the field for his involvement in the incident.
The man on the move was on the restart was Rick Gentes, who made his way by Oliveira. Shortly after, Oliveira saw his strong run come to an end after brushing the wall in turn two on lap 12. After a stop on pit road under green, Oliveira was able to rejoin the field.
The best race on the track was for the third position between Jay Stuart and Jeff Zuidema. After a short battle, Zuidema moved by Stuart and into third. The final run to the checkers was uneventful with O’Sullivan cruising to the victory over his rival Rick Gentes. Zuidema, Stuart, and Wayne Coury, Jr. completed the top five.
Brian Sullivan of S. Windsor, CT, returned to victory lane in the TIS Modifieds. For the second week in a row John Studley looked like the man to beat but a late race pass denied him a victory yet again. Studley led from the drop of the green flag holding of the likes of Leo Oliveira and RJ Marcotte in the early going.
Oliveira and Marcotte, running second and third, tangled on lap eight to bring out one of several cautions in the event. Back under green, a handful of racers who had problems early, rebounded to become part of the action at the head of the pack. Glenn Boss, Sullivan and Cam McDermott had entered the top five. Studley got some breathing room when Richie Ferreira and Sullivan began to do battle.
Sullivan was able to take the away the runner-up spot on lap 15. He quickly reeled in Studley. A pass for the lead was negated by an incident that involved Oliveira. After two green flag laps, Sullivan was able to take the lead once again. Sullivan went on to claim the victory over Studley, McDermott, Boss and Bart Ramos.
Scott Sundeen of Douglas, MA, topped a strong field of Limited Sportsmen to score his second win of the season. Not since early in the season, has Sundeen visited victory lane in the Limited Sportsman division. The patriarch of the Douglas Racing family has been strong all year but has shut out of victory lane since May. The run was anything but easy as Sundeen had his hands full with a charging Larry Barnett. Barnett waited until late in the race but applied real pressure over the final laps of the race. Last week’s winner Chris “Moose” Douton crossed the line in third but was later disqualified in post race inspection. Paul Coutu, Jr., Jay Sundeen and Kevin Bowe completed the top five.
Tim Taylor of Wauregan, CT, ran to his sixth victory of the season in the Mini Stock main event. If anything could overshadow Taylor’s victory it may have been the run of his son Nate. The start of the event found point leader Brad Caddick in control. A restart early in the event proved to be his undoing as mechanical failure cost Caddick the top spot. The caution flew when Caddick came to rest in turn one. On the ensuing restart, Randy Churchill had inherited the lead. His teammate Taylor quickly asserted himself as the new leader. Churchill would not give up and dogged Taylor to the checkers. Scott Michalski finished third over Chuck Rogers and Jeff Moffat. Nate Taylor came home sixth after starting in the 23rd position. It was a proud night for the Taylor family.

In a car built in less than a week following the crash of his primary car at Beech Ridge Speedway last Sunday, Jason Trundy of Old Town led the Little Enduro Series race #3 from pole to checkers, won the feature and the points title for the three race Little Enduro Series. The race was interrupted twice for red flags. The first occurred on lap 3 when Patrick Cook of Swanville pushed Hermon’s Andrew Crosby into the backstretch tire wall. Crosby was able to continue, but Cook was sent to the pit by the flagman for roughriding. The second red happened on the front stretch on lap 9 when Craig Carlson of Monroe spun and Waylon Shibles of Winterport collided with him. Both cars were sidelined for the night. Following Trundy for the entire distance of the race was Donny Blanchard of Orrington, who finished in second. Newburgh”s Darren Durrell was third, followed by Mike Ogden of Old Town and Mike Witham of Milo. Trundy and Blanchard won the qualifiers, setting them on the front row for the start.
Nicole Smith had an up and down night in the Ladies Division starting when she rolled her car over on the backstretch during practice. Not to be deterred, her crew got the car back in running order by the qualifier, but she was only able to finish in fifth. By feature time, the crew had fine tuned to car, and Nicole worked her way from her 3rd place starting place to the lead by the end of the second lap, and went on to win the event, despite her soreness from the earlier rollover. Last week’s winner, Danielle DeLuck of Hampden, started in the 6th spot and challenged Smith for the lead over the final five laps. DeLuck was unable to make the pass and settled for a second place finish. Points leader Rhonda Lyford of Winterport also challenged for the lead early, but fell to third and finished in that spot. Becky Elston of Carmel finished fourth while Shelby Kimball of Cornville finished in fifth in a car that was loose in the turns for the entire race. DeLuck won the qualifier, but had to start in sixth due to her win last week.
Jim Carr Jr. of Clifton rolled to his eighth win in a row in the pick up trucks after he took the lead on a lap 4 restart. Peter Drake of Corinth and Matt Morin of Orrington came together on the front stretch while racing for position. Morin spun and stalled on the front stretch while Drake continued on down the turn 1 embankment and needed assistance from the wrecker crew to get back on track. Even the wrecker crew needed assistance from the wrecker crew as the first wrecker attached to Drake’s truck became stuck and had to have assistance from a second wrecker, that pulled both vehicles to dryer ground. Drake returned to the track to continue in the race without losing a lap in the process. Drake worked his way back to the third spot by the finish, racing to the checkered flag behind Bucksport’s Dana Harlow, who finished in second. Mike Lynch of Winterport finished in fourth with Andrew Crosby of Hermon in fifth. Carr also won the qualifier for the trucks earlier in the program.
Colin Robertson had the car to beat in the Stars of Tomorrow as he won both the qualifier and the main event for the night. The win was the career first for the twelve year old redhead from Clinton. After a quick yellow flag on the first lap caused by a spinning Ryan Modery of Hermon, Robinson led from the pole to the checkers. Brett McCullough of Kenduskeag put his Ford Escort into the second spot early in the event and held off Matt Kimball of Cornville, who finished third. Modery recovered from his spin to finish fourth, followed by D.C.Alexander of Carmel, who finished in fifth. A sixth car, driven by Charles Haskins of Swanville, started the race but retired early following a tap in the rear bumper by McCullough as he misjudged his speed coming out of turn 2.
Although a little short on cars, the Big Enduro feature turned out to be a rough and tumble affair as the laps ran down. Dwayne Walton of Glenburn led the first 15 laps in his Thunderbird, but a shoving match for position on the front stretch that included Roger Smith of Clifton and Ricky Palmer of Winterport sent Walton back to third at the finish. Palmer came out the winner for the fourth week in a row, after taking the lead from Roger Smith on the 17th lap of the 20 lap event. Smith finished in second, in a car steaming at the finish and dragging it’s rear bumper on the track. Fourth went to Alan Cookson of Old Town, followed by fifth place finisher Shawn McNevin of Hudson. Roger Smith was the winner of the Big Enduro qualifier.

Waterbury, VT –Following the second event in the American Canadian Tour (ACT) Tiger Sportsman Series at the Canaan Fair Speedway this past Saturday, August 1st, second place finisher Joey Roberts from Georgia, Vermont has been disqualified.
Roberts failed the post race inspection of his Island Racing ‘built motor’. Under ACT rules, three motors were allowed to compete in the event — a Thunder Road Butler MacMaster crate motor, an Airborne Speedway-approved Island Racing spec motor, and an ACT-approved ‘built motor’ which is approved at both Thunder Road and Airborne Speedway. The ‘built motors’ can be assembled by racers or by regional engine shops under specifications as outlined in the ACT Rule Book.
Roberts was penalized on various issues. First, he was disqualified from the event with loss of all money and points due to the illegal motor. Following subsequent behavior not in keeping with the rules of ACT racing, Roberts was also fined $1,000.00 and has been suspended from any participation in ACT-sanctioned events of any kind indefinitely. Roberts has also been banned from entering any pit area conducting an ACT event until further notice.
Third place finisher, Joey Becker from Cambridge, VT, driving a car owned by Rich Watson from Milton, VT will inherit second place, and Jason Bonnett from St. Albans, Vermont moves from fourth place to third following the disqualification.
The final leg of the NAPA Tri-State Series, which included a 100-lap opening event at the newly renovated Airborne Speedway in July, will take place at Thunder Road Speedbowl at the ACE Hardware 100-lap special event on Thursday, August 13th. Shawn Duquette of Morrisonville, NY has won the first two events and leads Toby Ebersole of Peru, NY by 22 points, and Bonnett by 32 going into the final event. Post time is 6:30 and regular admission prices will be in effect.

Scarborough, ME – August 2, 2009 – The Pro Four Modifieds of New England (PFMNE) completed their eighth race as part of the Four Cylinder Nationals, sponsored by Kraze Korlacki Speed Equipment, at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Sunday. It was the #1m of “Stormin’ Norman” Wrenn that thundered his way from last to victory lane for the seventh time this year.
The series gridded a 15-car field for the 39-lap feature—in honor of the PFMNE’s 39th anniversary. In what was to be his first appearance of the season, the #00 of Dave Richardi was unable to complete his heat or return for the feature when his machine encountered mechanical difficulties. The same held true for the #83 of Franky Perry and the #68 of Eric Trask as well.
Taking the green flag was the #11a of Dan Meservey and the #13 of George Sherman in the front row. The #29 of Matt Sagar, who started in fifth, worked his way passed the #07x of Robin Berghman and the #12 of Rob Richardi, Jr. on the inside. On lap two, Sherman took the lead away from Meservey. Meanwhile, at the back of the pack, the #10 of Brian Vincent and Wrenn’s #1m worked their way through the traffic, passing under the #07 of Phil Lausier in the process. One lap later, Sagar drove his machine around Meservey and Sherman to become the new race leader. The #4 of Cory Cleary started in 10th and made his way through the field, passing Berghman on lap 4, with Wrenn close behind. Five laps into the event, Richardi Jr. saw an opportunity and took it—passing Sherman on the frontstretch for the bridesmaid position. Wrenn moved into third after racing side-by-side with Sherman.
A caution came out on lap twelve, when Cleary, Meservey, and Lausier spun in turns three and four. On the restart, Sagar exploded into the lead with Wrenn following in the low groove from his third place restarting position. Within two laps, Vincent passed Berghman for seventh, and Bedard began closing in on the #07x also. It was on this same lap that Richardi Jr. slowed on the fronstretch, bringing his Richardi Automotive machine to the pits after it began billowing smoke.
The caution came out for the second time on lap twenty-one when Sagar spun. On the restart, Wrenn and Vincent held the first and third positions, but when the green flag unfurled, they roared passed Cleary, who had restarted in second. On the backstretch, Sagar—who had to start at the end of the lead lap cars—powered under Berghman for a spot in the top five. But that glory was short-lived when he was forced pit-side with mechanical failure. With fourteen laps to go, Bedard and Crawford kept up their battle in the middle of the pack, but Bedard continued to hold the advantage.
Wrenn, Vincent, and Cleary made up a close top three going into the final ten laps of the feature event. When the two-to-go signal was shown, Cleary made his move under Vincent for second. When the white flag unfurled, Crawford made his move around Bedard. In turns three and four, however, Cleary spun before he reached the checkered flag; he was able to get it going again and cross the line. Wrenn took home the win, followed closely by Vincent and Cleary to round out the top three. Berghman; Lausier; Crawford; Bedard; D’Amico; Mertz; Meservey; Sagar; Richardi, Jr.; Sherman; and Eric McGovern rounded out the top ten. Crawford was the first Limited driver to cross the finish line, and Bedard and Mertz rounded out the top three.
The PFMNE have a week off, but will return to racing on Saturday, August 15, at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH.

Hudson NH – The Outlaw Sportsman were in for the first of two consecutive shows this past Sunday evening at Hudson Speedway. Tim Casey, Dean Wendell and Allen Reiser Jr. all got their first wins of the 2009 racing season in their respective divisions.
Rick Woodside Jr. brought the twenty one car Outlaw Sportsman field to the green flag. Veteran Pete Fiandaca jumped out to the early lead from his outside pole starting spot. A lap ten restart pitted Fiandaca and Casey on the front row with Casey on the outside. Casey powered past Fiandaca when the green flew. Mitch Wendell challenged Casey for the lead just past the halfway point and with two to go Bobby Allen got to the outside of Casey and had his nose in front of Casey’s as the pair crossed the stripe getting the white flag. But Allen couldn’t keep his momentum in turn one and slide back to third behind 2nd place finisher Wendell. Fourth through tenth were John Meany, Jason Ferriera, Gary Bearegard, Sandy Lee, Ron Lord Jr., Chris Lee and Rob DeAlmeida.
The Rookie Stock main saw a fast improving Jerry Lepage lead the first five circuits. On lap six there was grinding crash on the backstretch heavily damaging the cars of Dan Murphy, Billy Clement and Charlie Coombs, with Coombs getting airborne over the tire barrier and coming to rest upside down. All involved were ok. Wendell took over the top spot on the ensuing restart building a big lead before having trouble getting by side by side lapped traffic. John Morin got within a few car lengths but Wendell made it past and cruised to his first ever Feature win at Hudson Speedway. Morin finished second. Third through tenth were Scott Duval, Lepage, Larry Fortin, Keith Ennis, Travis Nevers, Heath Toutellotte, Alicia Kincaid and Clement.
Allen Reiser Jr. blasted out to a big lead in the V-6 Modified main and stayed out front the entire race. Dick Dubois led a pack of four cars chasing Reiser Jr. and they did catch him with three to go, getting to his bumper. But they didn’t have a chance to challenge him as the caution came out and on the restart Reiser Jr. pulled away and onto victory. Second through fifth were Dubios, Chris Kuebler, Anthony Frissone and Keith Caruso.
Louis Maher got back to his winning ways in the Roadrunner feature with his fifth win of the year. Second through fifth were Jef James, Don Mayo, Patrick D’Alba and Don Souzy.
Gage Harron won the Thunder Lite Feature. Dylan Bilodeau, Derek Griffith, Jen Lord and Bobby Stirk III were 2nd through 5th.
Charlie Baldwin won the Spectator Drags. Tim Lord won the Spectator Race and Cody Mackinnion won the Flagpole Race.

(Shediac, N.B.) — Stephen Halpin (#03), the 20-year old rookie Sportsman driver from Saint John, captured his first ever Maritime Super Series for Sportsman race of his career crossing the finish line first in the Cavendish Farms 100 Sunday afternoon at the Centre for Speed (CFS), Atlantic Canada’s Super Speedway and “Metro Moncton’s Playground of Power”.
Halpin, who started seventh on the 18-car grid, quickly moved up to the lead pack behind pole-sitter Ron Lane (#46) of Prosser Brook and passed Lane on the inside on lap #47, just before the competition yellow flag flew on lap #50. On the ensuing restart, the rookie kept his cool and fended off challenges from Lane over the final stretch to capture the historic win ahead of veterans Lane, the
defending RGS Sportsman champ, and Dan Bourque (#15) of Grande-Digue.
Lane earned the pole position for the 100-lap feature thanks to a win in the first 10-lap heat. e Marcel Maillet (#25) of St. Antoine, who started the main event on the outside pole, also enjoyed a good afternoon with his first checkered flags in over three years in both the 5-lap Dash and the second 10-lap heat. Mark Price (#54) of Saint John also recorded his first win of 2009 at CFS crossing the stripe first in the 25-lap semi-final.
The Maritime Super Series for Sportsman points standings now find defending series champion, Claude Gaudet (#22) of Grand Barachois in the lead (60 points), six points up on the rookie Halpin (54 points) and eight points up on Maillet (52 points). Then we find a four-way tie for forth at 51 points between Marc Gautreau (#99), Ken MacKenzie (#85), Bert Cormier (#3) and Dan Borque (#15). The next Super Series event will be held on August 15th as part of the CARQUEST Maritime Pro Stock Series Lucas Oil 100 weekend.
In Streetstock action, Shawn Waterfield (#23) of Sydney made the long drive up from Cape Breton worthwhile as he picked up the checkered flag in the 50-lap Invitational feature for his first career win at CFS. He accomplished the feat thanks to a timely and daring through-the-middle pass in heavy lap traffic on lap #35 to take the lead from veteran Saint John driver, Rick Cashol (#54). Cashol, who had himself taken the lead from feature pole sitter Doug MacEwen (#40) of Charlottetown on lap #28, had to settle for third in the feature behind past CFS champ, Remi Gaudet (#75) of Grand Barachois who was making his 2009 season debut. Gaudet took consolation in his 10-lap semi win while Waterfield also picked up the win in the 10-lap heat.
In Mini Stock action, Daniel Gautreau (#20) of Shediac recorded his first three wins of the 2009 season capturing wins in the 10-lap heat, semi-final and 35-lap feature to complete the grand slam. Gautreau crossed the stripe in the feature ahead of his cousin and defending CFS champion, Pierre Gautreau (#99) of Shediac with Mike MacDougal (#23) of Riverview picking up third – the
exact same result as in the 10-lap heat.
In the Four Fun division, there were three different winners. SSW regular, Tim Tanner (#89) of Beaverbank, N.S., picked up his first career win at CFS crossing the stripe in a photo-finish in the 35-lap feature just a few centimeters ahead of Eldon Campbell (#17) of Moncton while fellow SSW regular, Kyle Gammon (#98) of Middle Sackville, N.S. was third. Campbell took some consolation from his earlier win in the 10-lap semi while points leader, Mike Weagle (#60) of Petitcodiac took home first place hardware in the heat.
Next Sunday, August 9th at 2:00 p.m., the Centre for Speed will host the Covered Bridge Potato Chips Fan Appreciation Day with regular Southeast Challenge Series points racing in Sportsman and Streetstock divisions as well as the Little Guys 100, which is the longest race in the Maritimes for 4-cylinder race cars.

Fournier Tops Mini Stock Conquest,
Winchester, NH: This past Saturday, the Northeast Midget Association competed at the high baked 1/4mile with Nokie Fornoro celebrating in Victory Lane. NEMA Lites winner was PJ Stergios. Rich Fournier took the checkers in the special 35 lap Mini Stock Conquest. Nancy Muni held off Andy Brooks to score her first of the season Super Stock win. Mike Parks dueled to the finish with Bryon Baker to take his second victory. Eric Pomasko celebrated his first 4-cylinder enduro victory.
The Mini Stocks were led out by Ron Normandin for their special 35 lap Mini Stock Conquest. Normandin held the lead early followed by Rich Founier and Beth Adams. Chris Davis and Jamey King ran side by side for fourth. By lap ten, Fournier moved in the lead. On lap thirteen, the caution flag flew for Kevin McKnight. On the restart, Fournier continued to lead as Adams moved under Normandin for second. Chris McTaggart challenged Normandin for third. McTaggart secured the third spot and began to hunt down Adams for second. Few laps later, Adams and McTaggart ran side by side for second as King and Derek Bergquist followed. Less than ten laps to go, Fournier checked out as the battle for third brewed between Adams and King. Bergquist and Normandin battled for fourth. On lap thirty two, Adams experienced mechanical problems as the caution was brought out to set up a three lap shoot-out. On the restart, Fournier held off teammate McTaggart. Kendall moved into the fourth spot as Normanidn felt the pressure of newcomer, Danny Field on his back bumper for fifth. At the checkers is one, two, three for Big Boys Racing as Fournier, McTaggart and King celebrated in victory lane. King and Fields followed for top five.
Dave Streibel brought the Super Stock to their green flag start. Nancy Muni wasted no time to take away the top spot from Streibel as Andy Brooks followed and moved into second. By lap five, Muni pulled away from the field as Striebel and Ed Brehio III battled for third. On lap ten, the top three of Muni, Brooks and Brehio began to pull away as Streibel, Kevin Ouellette and Jeremy Sorel were in a fierce battle for fourth. Five laps to go, Muni began to feel the pressure from both Brooks and Brehio III for the lead. The battle for fourth continued between Streibel, Kevin Ouellette and Jeremy Sorel. On the final lap and the final corner, Muni worked around a lap car and took the checkered flag for her first win of the season. Brooks, Brehio III, Streibel and Ouellette followed for top five.
Aric Blanchette set the pace for the Outlaw Pro main event. By the second lap, Bryon Baker moved into the lead leaving Blanchette in battle for second with Mike Parks. On lap five, Baker remained to led as Parks began to reel Baker in. Brandon Ovitt made the pass on Blanchette for third. Fifteen laps into the book, Baker and Parks ran nose to tail for the lead as Hersey caught the top two. Parks made several attempts to pass Baker on the high side but was denied as Hersey awaited his opportunity to move in for the top position. Over half way to go, the top three ran close as Hersey looked to the outside for the pass. On lap thirty three, Parks made his move and went to the high side of Baker. The two ran side by side as Baker fought back. On lap thirty five, Parks moved into the lead as Baker followed on his bumper for second. Hersey again tried the high side of Baker but was denied. At the checkers, it was Parks taking his second victory of the season followed by Baker, Hersey, Ovitt and Steve Gauthier.
This Saturday, Monadnock Speedway presents the Ford Brattleboro Open Track Party and Heroes of YesterYear Celebration. This special event will include the opportunity for the fans to go trackside from 5pm – 6pm to meet the competitors of Monadnock Speedway while also meeting some of the legends of racing from years past.
