Home Track Drivers Strong, Suffer Mechanical Issues

Corey Hutchings and Douton led the field to green, with Hutchings leading the first lap, but was quickly overtaken by Douton. The Waterford, CT resident settled in to a rhythm, until Ryan Lineham suffered distributor troubles, stopping on the racetrack, bringing out the only caution of the race. John Hanafin had advanced to the fifth spot for the restart, after starting 12th, and began to cut through the top five, finding himself on Douton’s bumper. NEW ENGLAND MOTORSPORTS NORTH For May 28, 2015

NEW ENGLAND MOTORSPORTS NORTH
By Lou Modestino

The tradition of the Spring Green, which began in 1974 at Catamount Stadium in Milton, VT, has moved around over the years from track to track. It has been run at Plattsburgh, NY’s Airborne Park Speedway on 21 occasions, the most of any track. The list of winners is a history book of Late Model racing in the northeast (see below). The 41st edition of the race took place at Airborne last Sunday, arguably one of the favorite tracks the ACT Late Models appear at each year. A perfect day for racing and a spirited battle between friendly rivals Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH and St-Denis, QC’s Patrick Laperle kept fans from both sides of the border happy for the entire event. The other seven-team battle that raged for the second half of the event was also an example of great short track racing.

**[Just some of the names to have won the Spring Green over the years from Northern NASCAR, NASCAR North, the ACT Pro Stock Tour, the Tiger Sportsman Tour, and the ACT Late Model Tour: Dragon (3), Dion, Cabana, Mike Barry, Leclair, Kourafas, Fadden, Leclerc, Hanley, Lepage, Hoar, Nason, Scott, Cyr, Helliwell, Polewarczyk, Jr.]**

Scarborough, ME – Evan Beaulieu and the 56 Hancock Lumber team were back at their home track of Beech Ridge Motor Speedway this past weekend for the season opener of the Nascar All-American Series, Pro Series division.  After two weeks of practice with some promising results, Beaulieu and the team felt confident in their car going into week one. However, track conditions threw the team a curveball, as Beaulieu fought his way to a 14thplace finishing position in the 24 car field.

“I was really optimistic going into this race given the way the car’s handled the past few weeks at practice,” Beaulieu said of his night, “I thought for sure since we started the race on four new tires we’d be great, but the track tightened up a lot. I’m just ran the outside and drove the thing as hard as I could, and I’m surprised we finished 14th, we will take that and make the right adjustments for next weekends race so we can run near the front.” (more…)
