Rob Goodenough was the early pace setter, leading the first ten circuits until championship contender Richard Savary moved out front. Savary was able to open some distance from the field until Annarummo moved into second and hunted down the leader.

At the 1/3 mark of the century grind, Todd moved into the lead, not to relinquish it again. But it wasn’t one without a fight. Late in the race, Steve Masse, who started deep in the field moved into second by lap 80, and closed in on Todd with 15 laps remaining. With a couple of restarts over the final laps, Masse raced side by side with Todd, but could not overtake the Swansea, MA native and settled for second. Dave Darling wins Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Championship. Gerry DeGasparre Jr, John Paiva and Gerard Berthelette win mains.

Dave Darling took over from Tom Scully Jr with one lap remaining in the 75 lap Pro Stock Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Championship, and held on for the final 1/3 mile to pick up his fifth win of the season.

Bob Hussey and Mike Brightman battled for the lead early on before Brightman took over at the top of the leader board. Brightman held on to the top spot through the one-third mark, with Tom Scully Jr and Ryan Vanasse second and third. They ran that way until Brightman spun. On the restart with 40 laps remaining, Scully, Vanasse, Darling and Craig Weinstein set up for a 40 lap battle for the win. Darling moved past Vanasse on the restart, and started to put pressure on Scully. Darling darted from the inside and the outside trying to find a way by.

With about 20 laps remaining, Darling went to the outside and pressured Scully hard, trying to get the youngster to make a mistake. But there were no mistakes to capitalize on this time. Scully continued to keep Darling on the outside as Vanasse ran under Darling, the three cars under a blanket. With less than five laps remaining, the defending champion reached deep with his Bristol Toyota Scion Camry, and found something more that he needed. As they came across the stripe under the white flag, Darling had nosed ahead, and followed through turns one and two to hang on for the exciting win by .003 seconds over Scully Jr. Ryan Vanasse was third, with Craig Weinstein and Dick Houlihan fourth and fifth.

seekonkNick Lascoula wins Phil’s Propane Triple Crown race two. Amy Arsenault, Eric Pelletier, Doug Meservey and Curtis Rolando win Fast Friday features.

After losing a differential in Open Wheel Wednesday competition, Nick Lascoula’s crew threw major repairs into the car and came down two days later to nail down another convincing win; his third on the season. He leapt away from Joey Parker early own, who was trailed by New Yorker Brandon Bock for much of the race. But after a lap 23 restart, Bock was able to navigate around and into second as the two remaining laps unwound and steal second place away. Joe Putnam and John Bellucci followed across and Wisialko, eliminated by mechanical difficulties, finished two laps down.

Lascoula’s typical escape from the field came quickly from the outside pole with Parker giving chase and Bock on his bumper. Wisialko held fourth. Five laps in, Lascoula was eight cars up on the field. He increased to ten cars by lap eleven. Parker also had ten cars on Bock.

But Parker lost momentum on lap fifteen and Bock began to close. He was loose out of turn four on lap eighteen and a lap later Lascoula was now a full straightaway in the lead. Bock was on Parker’s bumper in lap twenty. They dueled over second.

seekonkRick Martin and Crystal Serydynski beat the rain. Pro Stock Triple Crown and LM features postponed.

They went brawling into the final two turns of the Sport Trucks feature: Radical Rick Martin on the outside and Rob Murphy down low – the veteran master and the young hotshoe. They battled through turns three and four, on the edge of their traction, and came sliding out of turn four with the checkers flying a half-straight ahead, locked in battle,. Martin’s back end slid a few degrees away from his line and Murphy skittered through the low groove, wobbling slightly. Hungry John Paiva hung on their heels waiting for any opportunity or spin. In the tense moment, Martin’s tires bit first and he leapt ahead past Murphy and under the checkers. Murphy grabbed second right on his bumper and Paiva flew across the stripe, locked to Murphy’s bumper for third. It was the grand finale of a race which had begun with a massive red-flag accident, then ran caution-free with intense, high-octane action to this conclusion. Scott Dion and Nick Uhrig rounded out the top five after pounding among the leaders for supremacy.

Darrel Church had taken the lead at the outset and Scott Dion made his way from fourth underneath Nick Uhrig as third starter Martin did not come off quickly and Dion dropped in front of him.
