Seekonk Speedway set to open for their first practice on April 7th.

seekonkAs the winter doldrums shake off, the staff and management are gearing up to open the gates for the 2012 season for the first time on Saturday, April 7th.

The first event of the day will be the first ever Seekonk Speedway Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt is open for all kids under 12. The gates swing open at 8:30, with the hunt beginning at 9am, and ending at 10.

The first practice of the season for Seekonk competitors and others will follow. The gates for the competitors opens at 9am, with rookies hitting the track first at 11am. Competitors from Seekonk, various touring divisions and other tracks in the region are all welcome to take their turn on the 1/3 mile oval, to get ready for their season. With the Nick’s Pit Stop Legend Series coming aboard for 2012, this is a perfect opportunity to get some laps on a track many will be unfamiliar with. (more…)

seekonk“There’s an app for that.” Those are the words coming from the fans of Seekonk Speedway. With the increase in smartphone usage, Seekonk Speedway has become a leader in the information age, announcing the all new Seekonk Speedway mobile app.

“With the advancement of mobile devises and the opportunity to give our customers information at their fingertips, moving in this direction was a smart decision.” Vice President Francis Venditti stated. “It gives folks the opportunity to find out what is happening, see upcoming events, get coupons that will be available just to the app users, check out the updated points and more.”

“Being at the forefront of the newest technology is putting us at the front of the pack when it comes to giving our fans the most information. Last year, we integrated our AMB Electronic Timing and Scoring System to our customers, and this just seemed like a natural progression.” continued Venditti.

JOHNNY BENSON JR. PICKS UP SECOND STRAIGHT RACING AGAINST CANCER 100 AT SEEKONK

Last year Johnny Benson Jr. of NASCAR truck fame, came to Seekonk Speedway for the first time to compete in the ISMA 100. He left Seekonk with his career-first ISMA victory after an exciting battle with Chris Perley to the end of the 1st annual Racing Against Cancer 100. Benson duplicated his feat Sunday at the Cement Palace with a few different adversaries, but an equally awesome run. Benson was able to present the $2,500 ISMA check once again to the Racing Against Cancer effort and he also participated in the Cancer Team Walk on Saturday for one fulfilling weekend.
