The Pro All Star Series 75 tops the bill this Thursday at the Thompson International Speedway. The Super Late Models of the PASS Tour have been a mainstay and a fan favorite at Thompson for several years. These extremely fast race cars traditionally offer an excellent race program of qualifying heat races and an edge-of-the seat feature races.
To make the program even more enjoyable, California Paints will bring their “Storm System” spokesman, Rusty Wallace, the 1989 Sprint Cup champion and soon-to-be inducted member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame to Thompson for a brief meet and greet session with fans and company employees. A few lucky fans will be given the opportunity to have Rusty answer their questions and he will also sign a limited number of autographs.

Competitors To Return to Barre’s Thunder Road for Governor’s Cup
The 2012 Vermont State Stock Car Championship Series heats up just in time for the crown jewel of the four race series: The VT State Lottery Commission Governor ’s Cup 150 at Thunder Road. Milton’s Brent Dragon leads the swarming field to the “Nation’s Site of Excitement” on Thursday, July 12 with a slim 6-point lead over multi-time Thunder Road Champion Phil Scott.
Both drivers have their sites set on the newly formatted state crown title. “To think that the organizers have put together a series to decide Vermont honors has made it unique and special for us all,” said Scott. “Now we just have to win it,” he laughed.

Dave Darling is finding 2012 to be just what the doctor ordered after finishing second in the championship chase the last 3 seasons. Over the course of this season, Darling has been one of the fastest and most consistent cars at the speedway. He proved it for the third time last Saturday night, putting his Bristol Toyota Scion Camry anywhere on the track he wanted, and cruised to his first 40 lap win.
Kevin Casper jumped out to the early lead, and held off the challenges of Ken Spencer and Dick Houlihan for the first 11 laps. Mike Brightman took over the second spot and started to pressure the Phil’s Propane Fusion. That lasted for 6 laps before Darling started to make his move. Darling took over second on lap 17, and using a restart on lap 19, took over at the halfway point and never looked back. While Darling was dominating the final laps, a lot of action was going on for second on back. In the closing laps, Brightman had his hands full with Tom Scully Jr, who moved around and into the runner up spot with just 5 laps remaining. Brightman held on for third, while Ryan Vanasse and Tom Scully Sr rounded out the top five.

Unity, Maine — Dean Fuller of Albion won his second straight Late Model feature race Saturday night at Unity Raceway, in just his second start of the 2012 season.
Fuller, a champion in the old Pro Stock class at Unity a decade ago, roared from the back of the field twice, aided in part by a restart incident that forced race leader (and point leader) Ajay Picard of Palmyra to the pit area.
Fuller roared by Waldoboro’s Will Collins shortly thereafter, then outran Burnham’s Brian Whitney to the checkered flag. Collins held on for a third-place finish. Picard rebounded to claim a fourth-place finish, in front of Chelsea’s Dan Trask. Picard won the heat race.
