Sunday’s final leg of the Maritime Sportsman Series at Centre for Speed was an excitement fulled event with 17 Super Sportsmen taking the green flag in the 100 lap feature. In the early going, John Rankin took the lead and for a short while, it looked like he was going to run away from everybody. However, slowly but surely, the #11 machine of Cal Hatfield chased him down and took over the lead on lap 38. At lap 56 however it was the wiley veteran, Bill Sommerville’s turn to assumed the lead and despite the best efforts of several competitors, Sommerville hung on for his first ever 100 lap win in Shediac in a car built and sponsored by his son Lonnie.

PASS Pros seeking Seekonk Redemption Saturday

Naples ME (8/2) The Pro All Stars Series(PASS) North super late models are back in action this weekend at Seekonk (MA) Speedway on Saturday August 6 and the teams that travel the east coast will all be looking to accomplish one thing – To see a PASS regular in the winner’s circle!

PASS has made an annual appearance at Seekonk Speedway since 2009 and the speedway’s home town heroes have claimed both wins. Tom Scully Jr. did the trick in 2009 and Dave Darling got the job done in 2010. The PASS pros have been plenty competitive, but its rare when the home track regulars shut them out of victory lane for two races in a row.

Forty-Five ACT Teams Take Advantage of NHMS Test and Tune

Loudon, NH – Forty-five American Canadian Tour Championship Late Model teams were on hand for a Test and Tune session at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH on Tuesday, August 2. Team’s from all over the Northeast, Ontario and Quebec were on hand in preparation for the All-Star Late Model Challenge at NHMS on Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13.

Inaugural ACT Invitional Champion Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, MA was the fastest on the day turning a 31.589 lap. Graniteville’s John Donahue was also near the top of the time charts for the majority of the day with his fastest lap of 31.676 seconds.

Joey Polewarczyk Jr set for a second half surge

(Hudson, NH) – The 2011 season started out on a high note for Joey Polewarczyk and crew as they left the fast New Smyrna Speedway in Florida after capturing the Inaugural Goodyear Speedweeks Cup. Since then the season has been one to forget and according to Joey, the buck stops with him.

“I am more focused right now, than I have ever been. The time to turnaround our season is now and I feel our second half will mirror what we did in 2010.”
