Joey Doiron: PASS North Series
Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Race Report

SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, finished fifth in the PASS North Series Southern Maine Motors.com 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, July 9. It was the best finish of the season for the reigning PASS North Series Rookie of the Year and came at his home track. Doiron started 14th, but he worked his way into the Top-10 after just a handful of laps. He moved into the fifth spot on Lap 80 and was fourth just five laps later. Doiron was closing in on third place when his engine weakened, however, but he was able to hold on for fifth at the checkered flag. It will be a quick turnaround for Doiron and the rest of the PASS North teams, as he will compete at Lee USA Speedway’s Bastille 200 this coming Tuesday, July 12.

Brent Dragon: ACT Late Model Tour
Twin State Speedway Race Report

CLAREMONT, N.H. – Brent Dragon of Milton, Vt., finished a strong second in the ACT Late Model Tour Jim’s Captown 100 at Twin State Speedway in Claremont, N.H., on Saturday, July 9. The finish was the best of the season for the all-time leader in ACT starts, who won his heat race and started third at one of his favorite tracks on the circuit. Dragon’s own Dragon Motorsports car ran inside the Top-3 all night before a loose handling condition over the final few laps stopped him one spot short of the victory.

Ste-Croix, QC – Boischatel’s Donald Theetge dominated the Série ACT Castrol Blue Pelican 100 at Riverside Speedway in Ste-Croix, Quebec on Saturday, July 9. The former Série ACT Castrol Champion scored his first win of the 2011 season and 15th career win. Theetge also won his heat race while on just seven cylinders due to a rocker. Theetge’s crew changed the broken part in time to start eighth in the 23 car field.
Taking advantage of two early cautions, Theetge was at the point on lap 14. He was closely followed by defending Série ACT Castrol Champion Karl Allard. Allard led a couple of laps while fighting on the outside of Theetge on several restarts, but never had enough to clear Theetge.
Sophomore driver Alex Labbé earned his second straight podium finish after being involved in an early caution. David Michaud followed Labbé home in fourth, while Patrick Laperle completed the top five. Laperle spun during the first caution of the event on lap 6 and clawed his way all the way back up to third at one point. He faded during the final long green flag run and settled for fifth.
The 100 lap event took one hour and twenty-three minutes to complete with eight cautions. All the cautions were minor other than one caution on lap 60 involving Jimmy Cormier and Dany Trepanier hitting the front stretch wall coming off turn four. Both drivers were ok, but could not continue the race. Eight of the twenty-three car field completed all 100 laps, while seventeen were on the track for the checkers.
Donald Theetge earns an invitation to the 3rd Annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH on Saturday, September 24. He joins the list of Brian Hoar, Nick Sweet, Jeff White, John Donahue, Patrick Laperle, Daniel Descoste, Patrick Hamel and Alex Labbé as invitees to date.
The stars of the Série ACT Castrol will return to Autodrome St-Eustache in St-Eustache, QC next Saturday, July 16. They will run 200 laps in their second trip to the speedway in 2011.
