WHELDON WINS 100th ANNIVERSARY INDIANAPOLIS 500 AS HILDEBRAND CRASHES ON FINAL LAP
INDIANAPOLIS (Sunday, May 29, 2011) – JR Hildebrand stood beside A crumpled car and ran his fingers through his hair, trying to discern just what transpired on the final lap of the 100th anniversary Indianapolis 500.
The 23-year-old Californian was a few hundred yards from being the first rookie to win the race since Helio Castroneves in 2001 and creating a storyline that would follow him into the record books. But, as all veterans will say, nothing is for certain in 200 laps of racing on the 2.5-mile strip of asphalt.

Barre, VT – Graniteville’s John Donahue and Bradford’s Derrick O’Donnell claimed wins in Mekkelsen RV Memorial Classic doubleheader at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT on Sunday, May 29. Donahue, a former Milk Bowl champion and four time winner at Thunder Road in 2010, claimed the Late Model 100 lap feature win.
Donahue fought his way past Middlesex’s Dave Pembroke in a battle of two Fords on lap 33. The two battled hard for the first 32 laps with Donahue trying everything he could to get by leader Pembroke before finally gaining the edge. Donahue would lead the rest of the way for the most part uncontested.

Ryan Ripley a 3rd generation race car driver is once again taking on Maine’s Toughest track, Unity Raceway.
Ryan won the 2010 Super Street Series championship at Wiscasset Raceway. This season he is looking to bring home the “Flyin 4’s” championship at Unity Raceway.
Ryan is off to good start with a win in the 09x on opening day at Unity Raceway. “The last 5 laps of the race we had our first restart, I took off, but I was late taking off , she (the car) started breaking down on me but, we had another restart with 2 laps to go.” Then on the final restart the 09x was able to take the lead, “We took off, I was side by side with the 71 and he missed the shift, I took the lead and was able to hold him back.”

Claremont, N.H. — Rowan Pennink of Huntingdon Valley, PA., survived six caution periods and three red flags to win the 100-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series event, Saturday night, at Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH.The victory was Pennink’s third with the VMRS and his first of the 2011 season.
Chris Pasteryak, Lisbon, CT., and Jon McKennedy, E. Chelmsford, MA., brought the field to green with McKennedy jumping into the lead until Pasteryak took over the top spot on lap four. Pasteryak then set the pace before turning over the lead to Pennink on lap 39. Pennink led the remaining 60 laps to secure the win.

The Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour visited the rough and tough Unity Raceway this past weekend. The Tour has been coming to this track for the past few years and having experience at this tricky oval is one of the most important attributes to be successful on the track. The stands were packed, and the race would not disappoint.
