METALCORE PICKS UP TITLE SPONSORSHIP ON MARITIME SUPER SERIES

June 14, 2013 – CFS is proud to announce that MetalCore, a locally owner and operated company specialized in supplying a variety of metals to consumers and industry, has agreed to become the title sponsor of the CENTRE for Speed’s Maritime Super Series of Stock Car Racing. MetalCore will assist us in providing up to $6000 (SIX THOUSAND) in points fund money for the 4 race series! Add to the points funds an exciting new race day format, a highly competitive points structure, a high weekly payout, and non conflicting events with most speedways and the CENTRE hopes to see strong fields and good car counts in each of the 4 events. The MetalCore Maitime Super Series is features extended lap races for Maritime based Sportsman, Street Stock and Mini Stock cars and is open to all competitors from throughout the region.

CENTRE FOR SPEED PROVIDES ACCESS FOR ELDERLY FANS AND OTHERS

June 6, 2013 – CFS is pleased to announce improved access for fans of all ages via its new “Drive-In” zone for Fans. This area is designed for elderly and physically challenged fans who otherwise would have difficulty in attending the races. In the Drive-In Zone fans with disabilities and those over 65 can drive their car, half ton, or van up to the fencing and, without having to leave the comfort of their own vehicle, watch the races. In addition, fans can tune into the CENTREs announcers on their own FM radio via the speedways new FM Radio Station Transmitter so no matter how loud the motor sport, the fans can hear the announcers commentary! To access the Drive-In Zone, fans must enter thru the Pit Pass entrance. A pit pass and proof of age or physical ailment is required. A season pass for the Drive-In Zone is available, at a reduced cost, for those who are eligible. Spaces are limited and on a first come basis. Please spread the word to those you think may benefit and “We’ll see you at the CENTRE.”

Greg Fahey had a great start to his season in the Martins Home Heating Sportsman Division to kick off the 20th anniversary season at Speedway 660. Fahey made three trips to the Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane to win the first Jensen Financial triple crown award of the racing season.

Flemming Takes First Checkered Flag Of The Season In Lucas Oil 150 At Scotia Speedworld

(Halifax, NS, May 19, 2013) Halifax, NS’s John Flemming raced his Action Car & Truck Accessories Dodge Charger from the back in just 25 laps to win the 2013 Season Opener Lucas Oil 150 at Scotia Speedworld on Sunday night. Flemming started on the outside with three laps to go and rode the outside groove to the victory around defending series champion Shawn Turple of Enfield, NS. Greg Proude of Springvale, PE rebounded from a late spin in Turn One to finish third with Daryl Mahar (Hubley, NS) and sophomore Steve Ross (Waverley, NS) completing the top five.

Flemming started the day off taking the top spot in the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials with a quick circuit of 14.285 seconds. Following a shake-up of the top nine drivers and a 10 lap race, Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, NB took home the King Freight Dash for Cash giving him the pole position to start the Lucas Oil 150. Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races were won by Proude, New Glasgow, NS’s George Koszkulics, and Antigonish, NS’s Donald Chisholm. Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro) backed up his sixth place starting spot in the Lucas Oil 150 by finishing sixth and taking the first Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race Award of the season. Terry Dougay (Albany, PE) gained 21 spots to receive the Absolute Traffic Services Hard Charger Award. Turple led 66 laps to pocket the Linde Most Laps Led Award. Five leaders swapped the lead ten times throughout the 150-lap affair.

Justin McNeil (Bedford, NS) won a 50 lap Maritime League of Legends Tour race to start the day off. Joining McNeil on the podium was Matt Moore (Falmouth, NS) and Emily Meehan (Rawdon, NS).

The next event for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is the Fast Eddie Racewear 100 on Saturday, June 1st at Petty International Raceway at 6:00 pm.
