THE STORY

Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, looks to bounce back as the ACT Late Model Tour competes in The Big Jab 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Sunday, May 15. Theriault failed to qualify for the Tour’s most recent event at Thunder Road International Speedbowl earlier this month after finishing an impressive seventh in his RPM Motorsports debut at Lee USA Speedway. Theriault made his ACT debut as a 15-year-old at Oxford in October of 2009, and last season he led 29 laps in this very event.

Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., heads in as the ACT Late Model Tour championship leader when the series runs The Big Jab 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Sunday, May 15. Hoar has a win and two Top-5 finishes to start the season as he searches for a third straight ACT title and record eighth championship overall. Despite a runner-up effort in last year’s non-point TD Bank Oxford 250, Hoar has yet to win at Oxford – where the series will run twice in just over a month’s time.

THE STORY

Brent Dragon of Milton, Vt., looks to gain ground on the ACT Late Model Tour championship leaders when the series runs The Big Jab 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Sunday, May 15. The all-time ACT leader in starts has been plagued by power steering issues through the first two events of the season, but the veteran driver has forged ahead to sit seventh in the overall standings. This will mark the third straight event in which Dragon will compete for Avery Motorsports.

Oxford Plains Speedway to display at Monument Square in Portland on Friday, May 13

OXFORD, Maine – Oxford Plains Speedway will kick off its 2011 season with a display of race cars in Portland’s Monument Square this Friday, May 13, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. It is the second year in a row that the Speedway has brought its display to Maine’s biggest city.

Fields of Gold

This season opener at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway is right around the corner, and one of the drivers you will see on the track is Andy Fields. Though he has been passing the time away from the track doing some much needed fishing, but now that the snow is gone and its time to go racing.

Andy had planned on running a new race car this season, but his dad had suffered a heart attack in the off season. They were able to rush him to the hospital and get medical attention before the heart attack cause long term damage, and his farther is doing “great now”, commented Andy. So for now Andy will be running the old car at BRMS.

111-lap Late Model race opens 2011 Unity Raceway season Sunday, May 15

Unity, Maine – Opening day at Unity Raceway is set for this Sunday afternoon, May 15 with a full card of racing topped by a 111-lap Late Model feature race.

Promoters George and Sherry Fernald enter their fourth season operating the track dubbed “Maine’s Toughest Racing Oval” with confidence that both car counts and fan attendance will once again be on the rise.
