Matt Hirschman picks up Seekonk’s Modified Madness and the $10,000 to go along with it. Seth Carlson is NEMA winner, while Shaun Buffington winds Legends main.
Matt Wentz and Jon McKennedy brought the 25 car field down to the green flag, and it was Wentz who jumped out front. Matt led the first few laps before VMRS Champion Chris Pasteryak took over and started to pull away. Matt Hirschman, who started sixth, quickly moved behind Pasteryak, and put on the chase. Wentz followed in third until the defending Open Wheel Wednesday winner Doug Coby moved past. At the lap 25 mark, McKennedy had moved back into fourth with Louis Mechalidas was fifth.
By lap 40, Todd Annarummo and Ryan Preece had moved into fourth and fifth. While battling for the lead, Pasteryak and Hirschman got together, and both were taken out of the lead pack. Coby was involved as well, as he and Hirschman locked bumpers. This handed the lead over to Annarummo, with Preece, Todd Patnode, Austin Kochenash and Dave Berghman the top five. Kochenash had already pitted earlier in the event, and had worked his way back through the field.

NAPLES ME (7/31) It’s no easy deal racing against the Northeast’s Super Late Model super stars. They have the team, the talent and the equipment to take on any speedway’s home town heroes and leave with the checkered flag and the big trophy. But there’s always an exception to any rule, and when the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North race teams roll into Seekonk (MA) Speedway for a short track Saturday night the drivers that follow the traveling race show all over the Northeast will be out to even the score.
Seekonk has a talent laden field of Pro Stocks (the forerunner to today’s Super Late Models) and they know every inch of asphalt at the historic short track. They’re hard to beat on their home turf; Tom Scully Jr. and Dave Darling are living proof. They’ve both prevailed over the PASS North regulars at Seekonk. In fact it took three trips to the Action Track of the East before six time PASS North Champion Johnny Clark could break the locals’ strangle hold on victory lane.

Dylan Estrella gains 1st LM Checkered. Rick Martin wins Truck main. Scott Serydynski nabs Street Stock win.
After taking a week off, a rejuvenated 6 time Pro Stock Champion in Fred Astle picked up his third win of the season. In a race that treated the fans to a throwback type of race, he held off Rick Martin and Dave Darling for the checkered.
Dick Houlihan jumped out to the early lead over Kyle Casper, and set the pace for the nine laps, before Astle used a restart to out power Houly to the corners. Once out front, Astle had to hold off the challenges of points leader Darling and Martin, who was competing in his second race of the season in the Pro Stocks.
For the final 20 laps, Martin used the outside lane to move past Darling and make a run at Astle, but the defending champ was up to the challenge, as he held Martin off at the stripe. Darling finished third, as the three crossed the finish line under a proverbial blanket. Houlihan was fourth across the line with Mike Brightman fifth. After post-race tech, Martin failed, moving Houlihan and Brightman to third and fourth, with Craig Weinstein rounding out the top five.

Jesse Melberg of Taunton picked up his fourth Fast Friday Pure Stock victory tonight at Seekonk Speedway. The current points leader started deep in the field, and picked off cars one by one on his way to the front. Ian Savard of N. Attleboro jumped out front and set the pace for the fourteen laps until a caution came out. On the restart, Melberg out powered Savard and went on his way to the win. Doug Benoit crossed the line in second, with Jamie Salley, John Robidoux and Savard rounding out the top five.
In the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends, it appeared Nick Ladyga’ s perfect run for the season would continue, as he moved through the field and passed Nick Lascoula for the lead on lap 10, and pulled away from the field. Nick Lascoula held a comfortable lead before a restart closed up the field. With Lascoula out front, Shaun Buffington moved past Lascoula for second. A late race caution bunched up the field again, and Buffington of Plainfield CT was able to keep pace with the Voluntown, CT driver, and with a slight push in turn one with three laps remaining, slid underneath and held the three time winner at bay. Tom Grey wound up third, followed by Lascoula and Jordan LaMothe.

Dave Darling is finding 2012 to be just what the doctor ordered after finishing second in the championship chase the last 3 seasons. Over the course of this season, Darling has been one of the fastest and most consistent cars at the speedway. He proved it for the third time last Saturday night, putting his Bristol Toyota Scion Camry anywhere on the track he wanted, and cruised to his first 40 lap win.
Kevin Casper jumped out to the early lead, and held off the challenges of Ken Spencer and Dick Houlihan for the first 11 laps. Mike Brightman took over the second spot and started to pressure the Phil’s Propane Fusion. That lasted for 6 laps before Darling started to make his move. Darling took over second on lap 17, and using a restart on lap 19, took over at the halfway point and never looked back. While Darling was dominating the final laps, a lot of action was going on for second on back. In the closing laps, Brightman had his hands full with Tom Scully Jr, who moved around and into the runner up spot with just 5 laps remaining. Brightman held on for third, while Ryan Vanasse and Tom Scully Sr rounded out the top five.
