Another First Time Winner In NEMST Competition

The North East Mini Stock Tour made its return to Lee USA Speedway memorable as another first time winner carried the checkers around the 3/8 mile oval. 16 Cars rolled through the gates in hopes of prevailing amongst the best mini stock drivers in the region. This action packed Tuesday night event was held in conjunction with the full fender flyers of the Pro All Stars Series and the Bastille 200.

South Plattsburgh – George Foley of Saranac Lake snatched his second victory of the season, besting a 30-car Modified field at Airborne Speedway Saturday. Foley held off veteran Leon Gonyo of Chazy for the win. Both drivers are sponsored in part by Egglefield Ford.

The race got off to a ragged start – five cautions in eight laps – which worked to Foley’s advantage. “I kept starting on the outside and the car was going really well out there”, he said. “Then when I got to the front, they went to single-file restarts.”

Scott Holcomb Takes USAC DMA Win at Bear Ridge, Ends Joe Krawiec’s Streak

BRADFORD, VT – There were 15 USAC DMA Midget drivers on hand at Bear Ridge Speedway Saturday night and 14 of them had only one thing in mind: beating Flatfoot Joe Krawiec to end his three race winning streak.

Former Empire Super Sprints chauffer Scott Holcomb of Granby, CT was up to the challenge. Starting eighth, he took the lead from Jamie Spalding on lap six and held off a determined effort from former Bear Ridge Coupe Champion Kevin Chaffee of Fairlee, VT, who started 10th. It was Holcomb’s first Midget victory.

Whitney stays hot in Unity Raceway Late Model action

Unity, Maine – Brian Whitney of Burnham kept his recent streak of good fortune intact with a victory in the 35-lap feature race for the top-tier Late Model division Saturday night at Unity Raceway.

Whitney led all but one lap in the main event, yielding the front running position for a brief period to Skowhegan’s David Folsom I. Jeff Burgess of East Madison, locked in a tight battle for the track championship with Folsom, made a late charge and took second position away from Folsom in the closing stages of the race. Folsom ended up in third position, followed by Dylan Turner of Freedom, who rebounded from a pit stop to post the fourth-place finish. Tyler Robbins of Montville ended up as the fifth-place finisher after Will Collins had his finish negated by a tire violation detected in post-race inspection. Whitney and Turner won heat races.

Mike Ziter Wins First Bond/WIX Tiger Tour Event at WMMP

North Woodstock, NH – Williamstown’s Mike Ziter earned his first career Bond/WIX Tiger Tour event at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, NH on Saturday, July 16. Ziter started from the pole, but didn’t have an easy ride to the win. He spent the majority of the event holding off current point leader Derrick O’Donnell, Joey Roberts and defending Tiger Tour Champion Jason Bonnett.
