LOUDON, N.H. (June 23, 2011) – New England’s largest sports and entertainment facility has been voted Best of N.H. by N.H. Magazine for its FANtasy Drive open house event in April.
The speedway was voted best automotive event as the editor’s pick. Each year, FANtasy Drive kicks off the jam-packed racing season at the speedway. (Stafford Springs, CT)—2-time Limited Division Pro-4 Modified champion
Stan Mertz has joined the CARQUEST Champions For Charities field, taking the
place originally reserved for Donny Lia, who will be unable to attend the
race due to a scheduling conflict. Mertz won the Limited Division Pro-4
Modified championship in 2008 and 2009. Mertz will be racing for the
Connecticut chapter of Autism Speaks and he is looking forward to getting
out onto the Stafford Mini-Mile behind the wheel of a Senior Outlaw Kart.
“I’m certainly glad Stafford was able to fit me in for the race,” said
Mertz. “We’re excited about the race. I’ve been doing a lot of work for
the tornado victims in Massachusetts and this is another great opportunity
to raise money and give something back to Autism Speaks and fill the shoes
that Donny Lia got started. We can’t wait to get to Stafford.” (more…)
Barre, VT – Thunder Road International Speedbowl officials have announced that the CARQUEST Vermont Governor’s Cup program scheduled for Thursday, June 23 has been postponed due to rain. The ¼ mile oval in Barre, VT has rescheduled the event for this Sunday, June 26.
Graniteville’s John Donahue will lead the Late Models into the 100 lap event. With a win in the Memorial Day Classic and no finishes outside the top ten yet this season he sits atop the standings. He will have to battle with Chip Grenier, Phil Scott, Dave Pembroke, Mike Bruno and Jimmy Hebert who are all in the top five. Also past VT Governor’s Cup Champions Nick Sweet, Cris Michaud and Jamie Aube will be in attendance. (more…)
LOUDON, N.H. (June 22, 2011) -The 2011 Daytona 500 Champion Trevor Bayne is set to be this year’s key-note speaker at the 19th annual New Hampshire Motor Speedway Governors Breakfast on Friday, July 15.
Driver of the No. 16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Bayne launched his way into stardom by winning this year’s Daytona 500. The 20 year old also drives part-time for the veteran Sprint Cup Series team Wood Brothers Racing. (more…)
