THE STORY

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., returns to her home track for a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series 35-lap Late Model feature at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., on Saturday, June 1. Despite setting the fastest time in all three practice sessions on opening day at the track, Packard was caught up in an on-track incident and finished 13th on Saturday, May 18. Packard looks to rebound this weekend and climb back into track championship contention.

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., has a doubleheader holiday weekend of Late Model racing in store when she returns to NASCAR Whelen All-American Series competition at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., on Saturday, May 25, before heading to Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., for the first round of the Vermont State Championship Series with with Mekkelson RV Memorial Day Classic 100 on Sunday, May 26. Packard finished a disappointing 14th in the season opener at Canaan last weekend, though she left encouraged after having the fastest car in all three practice sessions during the day. After a short turnaround following Saturday night’s 35-lap Late Model feature, she’ll head to Thunder Road, where she won one of four qualifying races for the ACT Late Model Tour event there last month. The 16-year-old Late Model driver won the track’s Rookie of the Year title in 2012, finishing fourth in the overall NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model standings to ACT Late Model Tour champion Wayne Helliwell Jr. Packard has said her goal this year is to win the track championship at the track she calls home.

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., heads “home” for the annual season-opening Subway Fresh Fit 150 at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., on Saturday, May 11. The 16-year-old Late Model driver won the track’s Rookie of the Year title in 2012, finishing second in the overall NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model standings to ACT Late Model Tour champion Wayne Helliwell Jr. Packard made her Late Model debut in the Subway Fresh Fit 150 a year ago by qualifying for the 28-car field, and she’s hoping to turn her home track experience into a strong showing this time around in Canaan’s annual marquee Late Model event.

Lashua Defends Turf, Wins Granite State Pro Stock Series Canaan 100

Hometown racing veteran takes win at Canaan Fair Speedway

CANAAN, NH — Hometown stock car racer Donnie Lashua took the lead from polesitter Cory Roberts on lap 39 to score his first career Granite State Pro Stock Series win Sunday in the 100-lap event at Canaan Fair Speedway.

Lashua started third in the 18-car field and patiently rode behind Roberts for the first third of the race. The veteran Lashua was able to work inside of Roberts and snag the lead for the remainder of the race, but had to hold him off on three late race restarts.
