THE STORY
EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., has a doubleheader holiday weekend of Late Model racing in store when she returns to NASCAR Whelen All-American Series competition at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., on Saturday, May 25, before heading to Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., for the first round of the Vermont State Championship Series with with Mekkelson RV Memorial Day Classic 100 on Sunday, May 26. Packard finished a disappointing 14th in the season opener at Canaan last weekend, though she left encouraged after having the fastest car in all three practice sessions during the day. After a short turnaround following Saturday night’s 35-lap Late Model feature, she’ll head to Thunder Road, where she won one of four qualifying races for the ACT Late Model Tour event there last month. Hudson N.H. – Hudson Speedway swung open its gates for its 66th consecutive season on Sunday May 19th
Max Chaput led the Thunder Lights to flagman Steve Gran’s first green flag for feature racing of the year. McKayla Lord quickly moved up from her third row starting spot and never looked back to take the feature win. Kris Schroeder made his way up from his last starting spot to get to Lord’s bumper as the laps wound down but wasn’t able to mount a challenge as Lord joined her dad, uncles, sister and cousin as a Hudson Speedway feature winner. Schroeder finished second followed by Chaput and Jarrod Howard. Lord won the heat.

NASCAR Whelen All-American Series: Emily Packard Canaan Fair Speedway Race Preview
THE STORY
EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., opens the 2013 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series with a 35-lap Late Model feature event at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., on Saturday, May 18. The 16-year-old Late Model driver won the track’s Rookie of the Year title in 2012, finishing fourth in the overall NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model standings to ACT Late Model Tour champion Wayne Helliwell Jr. Packard has said her goal this year is to win the track championship at the track she calls home.

Winchester, NH: This past weekend, Monadnock Speedway was a victim of rain postponing the highly anticipated event of the Town Fair Tire Whitcomb 175 featuring the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. The decision was made my NASCAR officials and Monadnock Speedway management on Friday to postpone the Saturday show to July 27th due to the inclement weather forecasted.

The Legion Speedway in Wentworth NH welcomed the Sprint Cars of New England, or SCoNE, to the quarter-mile dirt oval on Mother’s Day. They were joined by the Speedway’s four regular divisions. The title sponsor for the evening was Sabrena’s Creative Styles of Northfield, NH.
