Eddie MacDonald and LaChance Team Up for First ACT Race of the 2012 Season

ACT American Canadian TourEddie MacDonald and crew chief Rollie LaChance are ready for the Governor’s Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway on Sunday, April 15 in the opener for the American Canadian Tour. The MacDonald Motorsports Team will unveil a new car built by Dale Shaw for owner Fred Petersen.

“We are really excited to be teamed up with Freddy again to run in the ACT series this season,” said MacDonald. “We are just putting the final touches on the new car and after a day of testing, we are anxious to get it on the track at Lee. Dale did a great job on the car with Rollie very involved in the building so we feel we know the car pretty well already. With any new car there will be a learning curve but we feel comfortable with it.”

ACT LOOKS TO VP FUEL TO GO “GREEN” IN 2012

VP RACING FUEL BECOMES OFFICIAL FUEL OF ACT AND THUNDER ROAD

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) announced today that VP Racing Fuels (VP) would become the “Official Fuel” of ACT for 2012. The ambitious program will begin a major effort on the part of ACT to create both a more “green” environment, and equally important, to begin to contain fuel expenses for over 400 Late Model race teams in the ACT system, and 100 competitors at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl in Barre, VT.

The program will address the fuel needs of the ACT US, ACT Series Castrol Quebec, and Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl in Barre, VT.

BARRE’S NICK SWEET LOOKS FOR THREE IN A ROW

ACT American Canadian TourBarre, VT – The ‘Nation’s Site of Excitement’, Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl will open for the 53rd year of stock car racing with the traditional Merchants Bank 150 on Sunday, April 29, 2012. There has been over $30,000.00 in purse and prize money posted for the event, with the winner receiving $3,000.00 for the 150 lap contest. Defending event champion Nick Sweet from Barre, VT has an opportunity to become the first driver to win three in a row. The St J Auto team has back-to-back wins in 2010 and 2011 already in the record books.

“The opening Merchants Bank 150 has become really special for our family team. I was born and raised in Barre, I live and work in Barre, and winning at Thunder Road in front of a home town crowd is about as good as it gets in racing for us,” said Sweet.

ACT American Canadian Tour NH Governor’s CUP AT LEE USA FEATURES 13 CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS

ACT American Canadian Tour Waterbury, VT – There will be no less than (13) thirteen former champion drivers entered in the 2012 ACT opener at Lee USA on Sunday, April 15, 2012. Between them they have accumulated 48 track and/or touring series championships during their careers. The annual opening New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway is expected to field the best opening day group of racers in its 22 event history.

Heading the list of former champions is Brian Hoar, Williston, VT. He is an (8) eight-time ACT Champion and also owns a Thunder Road and Airborne track championship. Hoar also is the defending NH Governor Cup winner. Jean-Paul Cyr, Milton, VT is a (7) seven-time ACT Champion and also is the 2010 Thunder Road track Champion.

Part-time ACT driver and noted car builder with nine (9) Oxford Plains Speedway Pro Stock titles, Jeff Taylor from Farmington, ME, along with two-time Oxford Pro Stock Champion Ricky Rolfe from Farmington, ME will look to take the Cup back to the Pine Tree State.

Ford Blue Oval Cup Program Enters Third Season in 2012

ACT American Canadian TourWaterbury, VT – The Ford Blue Oval Cup expects continued growth entering its third season in 2012. The program has awarded over $30,000 to American Canadian Tour Late Model teams around the Northeast U.S. and Eastern Canada since its inaugural 2010 season.

The Blue Oval Cup program was developed for Ford competitors in ACT Late Model events and ACT affiliated tracks in 2010, the first full-season of the Ford engine’s inclusion in the ACT rulebook. The program saw a near 100% increase in participating competitors during the 2011 season.

ACT Returns to Historic Sanair Super Speedway

ACT American Canadian TourWaterbury, VT – For the first time in six years and just the second time in over a decade, the ACT Late Model Tour will return to where it all began, Sanair Super Speedway in St-Pie, Quebec, during the 2012 season. On Saturday, August 11, the ACT Late Model Tour and the Série ACT Castrol will visit the 1.3-kilometer speedway for a 100 lap combination event.

The ACT Late Model Tour held its first ever event on April 26, 1992 when they joined the headlining ACT Pro Stock Tour at Sanair Super Speedway. Norm Andrews of Warren, VT claimed the Late Model win in their 25 lap event before three-time ACT Champion Junior Hanley of Oakville, Ontario earned his sixth career Sanair win in the 150 lap Pro Stock event.

The Late Model Tour has visited the Super Speedway just six times in its 20 seasons to date, with the most recent event in 2006. Ben Rowe of Turner, ME claimed the 2006 ACT Super Series win and a $10,000 paycheck after claiming the win in the three segment 150 lap special event. Eight-time ACT Champion Brian Hoar has two Sanair victories, both in 1993, while Steve Miller and Joey Laquerre complete the list of ACT Late Model winners at Sanair. Vermont Lt. Governor Phil Scott is the only competitor to start all six Sanair ACT Late Model events to date.
