THE STORY
WINDHAM, Maine – Third-generation champion Bradley Babb of Windham, Maine, returns to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, May 25, for the season-opening Pro Series 40. Babb won the 2012 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track championship at Beech Ridge last season after winning this race, and he plans on trying to become the track’s first third-generation multi-time champion – after both his grandfather, Robert Babb Sr., and father, Bobby Babb, each won multiple championships during their careers at the .333-mile oval. FALMOUTH, Maine – Bobby Timmons III of Windham, Maine, returns to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series with a 40-lap Pro Series feature event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, May 25. Timmons finished sixth in the final Pro Series standings in his first full season of competition last year, and the Mulkern Racing No. 48 Timmons Machine/Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge returns in 2013 with championship aspirations for the second-generation driver. THE STORY
EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., opens the 2013 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series with a 35-lap Late Model feature event at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., on Saturday, May 18. The 16-year-old Late Model driver won the track’s Rookie of the Year title in 2012, finishing fourth in the overall NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model standings to ACT Late Model Tour champion Wayne Helliwell Jr. Packard has said her goal this year is to win the track championship at the track she calls home.

Thirty six NASCAR K&N Pro Series East cars took the green flag in the Blue Ox 100 at Richmond International Raceway on Thursday with Eddie MacDonald in the unenviable 33rd starting position. When the checkered flag waved at the end of the 100 lap (75 miles) race the Grimm Construction Chevy scored an impressive fourth place finish.
“We needed that finish after the last couple of races,” said a very pleased driver. “We had a terrible qualifying attempt. The front of the car was hitting the track and it was smoking quite a bit. We had to start the race that way since the cars are impounded after qualifying.”
