PROUDE POWERS TO VICTORY LANE IN CUMMINS 100 AT SPEEDWAY 660

(Fredericton, NB, July 3, 2016) Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) returned to Victory Lane for the first time since 2010 after taking the lead on lap 20 of the Cummins 100 at Speedway 660 on Sunday afternoon. Proude took the lead from pole sitter and defending series champion Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) and held off Cassius Clark (Farmington, ME) over the last 20 laps for his first win at Speedway 660. Clark finished second ahead of Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS), who started last in the 20-car field and charged to the front of the running order. Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) and Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) completed the top five.

Atlantic Tiltload Heat Races determined the starting grid for the Cummins 100 which saw Chisholm, DJ Casey (Prospect, NS) and Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) victorious. Eventual winner, Proude, led a total of 86 laps to take home the Linde Most Laps Led Award and an extra ten Championship Points. The King Freight Lines Future Winner and Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race Award were taken home by Harry Ross White (Noel Road, NS) after finishing in 10th place.

John Smith Claims Second Straight SMRS Modified Win At Wake County

John Smith Claims Second Straight SMRS Modified Win At Wake County

RALEIGH, NC (July 2) – John Smith grabbed the lead from Brandon Ward with 29 laps to go and led the rest of the way for his second consecutive Southern Modified Racing Series (SMRS) Presented By PASS win in the Battle At The Bullring Saturday night at Wake County Speedway.
“I think the real deal was my boys put the left front on the left rear [during the pit stop] and that gave me a lot more drive off the corner than the rest of them, but I still didn’t think I could get passed them,” said Smith afterwards. “Brandon [Ward] was getting a little bit sideways off the corner and I knew Jason [Myers] was coming so I knew I needed to go. But my boys in the pits really won me this race.” (more…)

Lee, NH – The Pro All Stars Series Super Late Models rolled into Lee USA Speedway 26 strong on Friday night, running along with the five regular NASCAR Whelen All American Series season weekly divisions for another full night of racing action on the quick 3/8ths mile oval.

Joe Squeglia, Jr. of nearby Derry, who spent much of his early career turning laps at “New Hampshire’s Center of Speed” in Hobby Stocks, Street Stocks, and Pro Stocks dating back to the early 1990‘s, was the big winner when the checkers flew to end the fast-paced 150-lap main event.

Squeglia grabbed the early lead on the long-distance run, but Newmarket’s Bryan Kruczek got past to lead the middle portion of the race in the A Family Cab-sponsored entry.  Not to be outdone, Squeglia worked his way back past to lead the final laps, posting his first career touring series victory aboard the Piquette and Howard Electric/Automart/Cairns Equipment ride.

Barre, VT – Kyle Pembroke of Montpelier claimed the third Triple Crown of the season in three regular-season events on Harvest Equipment Night on Sunday afternoon, sweeping his heat race, the semifeature, and the 50-lap Thunder Road Late Models feature.

Pembroke survived a collision with Eric Chase of Milton on his way to the victory. The two cars collided on the backstretch after the third caution flag of the race was thrown on lap 40. Since the wreck didn’t cause the yellow flag, Pembroke was allowed to reclaim his second-place position in the field. He moved past Darrell Morin of Westford on the ensuing restart and stayed in front for the rest of the event.

Rounding out the top ten were Nick Sweet of Barre, Morin, Phil Scott of Middlesex, Eric Badore of Milton, Jason Corliss of Barre, John Donahue of Graniteville, Shawn Fleury of Middlesex, and Josh Masterson of Charlotte. Badore and Sweet also claimed Maplewood Stores Triple Crowns in the first two regular-season Late Model events at Thunder Road.

WISCASSET, MAINE – Across the world, waving a white flag in battle symbolizes defeat, used by weaker contenders to indicate surrender. When it flies at Wiscasset Speedway, drivers and fans receive a very different message: go hard. Triggering white knuckles on steering wheels and tense toes to accelerators, this is the white warning of one lap to go. Champions finish as hard as they start regardless the cautions, collisions and chaos in between. In his second win of the season, Bryan Robbins in the #51x of Montville denied defeat all the way to victory lane, claiming first in the Strictly Streets 35-Lap Spotlight Race last Saturday night.

Starting strong, this division kept spectators on the edge of their seats until tricky traffic on lap five caused the first caution. Chris King from Burnham conceded the night when his #29 car left the shuffle horizontal at the top of turn one. Through intense smoke billowing from beneath Robbins as he climbed the ranks, fans could barely make out the flash of the yellow flag less than five laps later. In the second caution, Ryan Ripley’s #09 car spun from turn three into four, while Mike Duffy’s #02x barely managed to stay on the track.

Oxford, Maine – Gary Smith of Bangor drove to victory lane after charging past a few early race leaders to claim a career-first Oxford Plains Speedway Super Late Model win, topping the Budweiser Championship Series stock car racing card on MacDonald Motors of Bridgton night at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday.

Rookie Josh Childs of Oxford led a healthy portion of the Super Late Model 50-lapper’s early stages before yielding to Hebron’s Alan Wilson, who set the pace through the event’s middle stages.  Anson’s Scott Moore took the point away from Wilson, but there was no stopping Smith and his unclehenrys.com 75, and when the checkered flag waved Smith was in the spotlight for the first time at Oxford Plains Speedway.
