Jim Carr Jr. of Clifton drove to victory in the 25 lap Sinclair Towing Service Pick-up Truck series feature Wednesday night at Speedway 95 and in doing so, made it a clean sweep of the three series races. Hermon’s Doug Sinclair followed Carr across the finish line in second, after making a hard charge for the lead in the closing laps, but coming up short. Sinclair also took second in the three race series. Jason Haskell of Levant finished both the feature and the series in third place, Jeff Overlock Jr. of Hermon and Peter Drake of Corinth were fourth and fifth in the Wednesday night feature.
Travis Beale of Hampden led all 20 laps of the Little Enduro feature, holding off second place finisher Rick Gomm of Dixmont and third place Sam Betts of Brewer who both chased Beale for the entire distance in that order, but were unable to advance their positions. Darren Durrell of Newburgh and Dustin Lancaster of Milo finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Autodrome Chaudiere Race Report
VALLEE-JONCTION, Que. – Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, finished a disappointing 19th in the PASS North Series Budweiser 150 at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jonction, Que., on Tuesday, August 6. Theriault was battling for the lead in the Mulkern Racing No. 18 Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge with less than five laps remaining when he was turned on the frontstretch just past the start-finish line. Theriault had used a conservative tire strategy to run inside the Top-6 all night long, and he was in position to challenge race winner Kyle Busch on a late-race restart when he was sent through the infield grass after contact.

PASS To Crown Champions; Lightening Fast Winged Sprints To Tackle Southern National Motorsports Park
CHARLOTTE, NC (August 7) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry is pleased to announce that a deal has been finalized to include the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Cars at this year’s season ending Mason Dixon Meltdown at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, NC. The 8th Annual Mason Dixon Meltdown will be held November 22-23 and will serve as one of the biggest PASS races of the year. Several champions will be crowned at the Meltdown including the PASS National Super Late Model Champion, the PASS South Super Late Model Champion, and the PASS Pro Late Model Champion. In addition to 200 green flag laps of PASS Super Late Model racing, the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Cars will bring an added element of speed and excitement to an already action packed weekend.

Firecracker 150 & Enduro 200 this Weekend at Speedway 660!
Race fans are getting ready for double header action in the Geary Woods this weekend. At 7PM on Saturday night Speedway 660 hosts the Firecracker 150, one of our region’s biggest Sportsman races of the season. Then at 2PM on Sunday, the second Enduro of the season will take center-stage.
“The Firecracker 150 for Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman drivers is always a great race and after taking last weekend off, everyone is ready for an intense night of racing” said Speedway 660’s Michelle Roy. “I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few out of town drivers head our way this weekend for the Firecracker and to get some seat time here before the Irving Blending and Packaging Sportsman 150 on SpeedWeekend.”
Race fans will also see the Westwood Estate Apartments Bandolero, the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters and the DMR Auto Sales and Service Street Stocks in action. Sportsman and Street Stock heat races gets underway Saturday at 7PM, but the Bando and Sharp Shooter heats run at 6:20.

Thunder Road’s VP Racing Fuels night scheduled for Thursday, August 1 has been postponed due to the forecasted series of thunderstorms in the region. The event has been rescheduled for Thursday, August 29 and will be the final point counting event for the Late Models. The event will feature the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen 100-lapper along with regular events for Late Models, Allen Lumber Street Stocks and the Rough Riders.
Just over one week remains for competitors of the 29th Annual M&M Beverage Enduro to prepare their rides for the 200-laps of thrashing and crashing at Thunder Road in Barre, VT on Sunday, August 18. The “People’s Race”, as it has become known, gives the average fan the chance to tackle the Barre-highbanks for a shot at the $3,000 grand prize.
Long-time veteran of the M&M Beverage Enduro and the 1987 Enduro Champion Don “Dipstick” Tofani of Plainfield filed the first 2013 entry. He will wheel one of the over 100 nearly street-legal cars, which will be lined-up three-wide before taking off for the 200-laps with stops only occurring for fires and roll-overs.

For the second consecutive week and the fifth time this season, weather has forced the cancellation of tonight’s race program at Thompson Speedway. With the predictions of rain arriving late afternoon with heavy downpours throughout the evening, Thompson management was left with no choice but to cancel tonight’s activities. Tonight’s race was to feature the Valenti Modified Series, The New England Truck Series and Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions.
The Valenti Modified Series management has agreed to run their race next Thursday, August 8th. They will be joined by Thompson’s NASCAR divisions.
Waterford Speedbowl hosted a jam packed grandstand for its popular mid-week Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday family fun program. Picking up victories on the night of motorsports included Nick Ladyga of Voluntown in the INEX Legend Cars, his first of the season in the Wednesday series. Jon Porter of Canterbury won another Super X-Car race, while Willmantic’s Mitch Bombard won his first X-Car feature of the year. Ken Morin Jr. of Old Saybrook won a thrilling INEX Bandolero race that went down to the wire and the Wacky Hot Dog eating race went to Peter Pollard of Old Lyme. An aerial fireworks display capped the night of action on the track.

Canaan, NH. – Rowan Pennink, thanks to a late race charge and a fifth place finish last weekend at Scarborough, ME, has emerged as the current point leader heading to Waterford, CT., this weekend, when the Valenti Modified Racing Series competes in the 6th annual Wings ‘n Wheels race program. The popular summer event is scheduled for Saturday night, August 10.
Pennink moved ahead of Tommy Barrett (330-326) after Beech Ridge with Richard Savary, of Canton, MA, sneaking into third (313) only 17 points behind Pennink. Louie Mechalides, of Tyngsboro, MA, and Norm Wrenn, of Nashua, NH, are currently fourth and fifth. The top five point men are expected entries for Waterford.
As the VMRS 10th anniversary season continues, where it started in April,
Pennink is just one of four series regulars entering the open-wheel special with prior success in the Wings ‘n Wheels event. .

Teenager Mueller and veteran Gonyo sit 1-2 in standings
CANAAN, NH – An equal mix of youth and experience lead the all-new Northern Modified Challenge Series stock car tour to Canaan Fair Speedway on Sunday, August 11. Eighteen year-old Jessey Mueller has a small six-point advantage on Leon Gonyo – a veteran of five decades of racing – entering the Subway Fresh Fit 50. The event is round three of the five-race championship sanctioned by Devil’s Bowl Speedway management.
The Canaan event will be the first experience at the fast 1/3-mile New Hampshire oval for most of the Northern Modified Challenge Series drivers. Mueller, of Olmstedville, NY, has a history of success at new tracks; he won the NMCS opener at Thunder Road (VT) Speedbowl in his first start there in May and also won a special event in his first trip to Stafford (CT) Motor Speedway in 2012. Gonyo, of Chazy, NY has accumulated championships and dozens of victories at several tracks since the early 1970s.
The pair finished 1-2 in the first-ever NMCS race at Thunder Road on Memorial Day, and were second and third, respectively, behind winner Todd Stone of Middlebury, VT in the C.J. Richards Memorial at Devil’s Bowl Speedway last week. Mueller has 106 points to Gonyo’s 100 entering Canaan. Hunter Bates of Middlebury, VT is third with 92 points, Vince Quenneville, Jr., of Brandon, VT is fourth at 88 points, and Joe Williams of Scotia, NY sits fifth at 86 points. Stone’s Devil’s Bowl win moved him up to sixth place.

Spectator racing, kids racecar rides highlight Interstate All Battery Center Night
WEST HAVEN, VT – A NASCAR national championship may very well be won at Vermont’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway. With only four stock car racing events remaining in the 2013 season including Interstate All Battery Center of Rutland Night presented by the Green Mountain Water Environment Association on Friday, August 9, Todd Stone of Middlebury, VT has grabbed the lead in the national Rookie of the Year standings for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
Devil’s Bowl Speedway is one of 55 North American short tracks sanctioned by the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (NWAAS) program, with its open-wheel Bond Auto Parts Modified class designated as the “Division I” group. Each NWAAS track assigns a Division I class with drivers competing against each other under a common point structure for state and national championships.

Barre, VT – Brett Wheeler of Waterbury Center met Phil Scott’s challenge on a late race restart and sped off to victory in the Harvest Equipment Night Late Model 50-lap main event on a rare Monday night of stock car racing at Thunder Road.
Wheeler started on the pole and left everyone in the dust before a caution for Joey M Laquerre’s spin on lap 39 brought his Spherion No. 1 back to the field. Scott lined up alongside Wheeler in the Lamberton Electric/Maplewood No. 14, but wasn’t able to hang at Wheeler’s door.
Trampas Demers and Dave Whitcomb spent the final 11 laps in a spirited battle for 3rd that went to Demers. Rookie Jason Corliss finished 5th. Point leader Derrick O’Donnell came from 20th on the grid to claim 6th. O’Donnell was 13th at the halfway mark. Positions 7-10 went to Joey Laquerre, Dave Pembroke, Mike Bailey and Eric Chase.
