ACT Late Model Tour: Brian Hoar
Sanair Super Speedway Race Report
ST. PIE, Quebec – Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., finished fifth in the ACT Late Model Tour Sanair 150 at Sanair Super Speedway in St. Pie, Que., on Saturday, August 3. Hoar started on the outside of the front row and led a total of 28 laps in the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge Charger, but an aggressive setup and transmission woes combined to cost him valuable track position in the first half of the event. Following a mandatory mid-race pit stop, Hoar’s car came back to life – though heavy rains conspired to cut the event short five laps from the finish and halt his march back toward the front of the field.

PASS Sportsman Series: Dan McKeage
White Mountain Motorsports Park Race Report
NORTH WOODSTOCK, N.H. – Dan McKeage of Gorham, Maine, finished fourth in the rain-shortened PASS Sportsman 50 at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, N.H., on Sunday, August 4. The race was halted after 26 laps by rain and never restarted, marking the second straight series event to be shortened by weather. McKeage started eighth in the Naughty 40 Racing No. 40 Top Gun Construction/J.P. & Family Roofing Chevrolet and worked quickly into the Top-5. He made a great save on Lap 14 when he was turned sideways from behind, correcting the sliding car and soldiering on. McKeage was closing on third place before the rain hit.

Theriault To Tackle PASS At Autodrome Chaudiere In The No. 18
FALMOUTH, Maine – Brad Keselowski Racing development driver Austin Theriault will drive for Mulkern Racing in the PASS North Series event at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jonction, Quebec, this Tuesday, August 6.
Theriault, a Fort Kent, Maine, native, will drive the Mulkern Racing No. 18 Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge in the Budweiser 150. It will mark Theriault’s second career appearance in the No. 18 and his first Super Late Model start at Autodrome Chaudiere.
“I’m excited to have this opportunity,” said Theriault, who has two PASS South Series victories in 2013. “Scott and Vickie Mulkern have been very good friends to our family, and they’ve been a big part of helping me get to where I am today. I’m looking forward to racing the No. 18 this week and trying to get them a win.”
Theriault will be part of a two-car effort for Mulkern Racing at Chaudiere. Tony Ricci of Westbrook, Maine, is slated to drive the No. 84 Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep/Community Pharmacies Dodge.

“Madness” event draws huge purse, USAC Midgets back in town
BRADFORD, VT – Bear Ridge Speedway – “The Home of the Coupes” – has posted a mammoth prize purse for its iconic Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupe division at the John Poor Memorial presented by Walker Motor Sales of Woodsville, NH on Saturday. Between the finish payout and bonus lap money raised by race teams through various sponsors, more than $8,500 is up for grabs. The race, named in honor of late Bear Ridge official John Poor, will be run in the popular “Madness” segmented format with full-field inversions and cumulative scoring, with bonus money paid to each of the top-five runners on every lap.
Jason Colbeth of Newbury, VT became the latest winner in the division at last week’s Interstate Batteries of New-Mont event. Colbeth joins Teddy Salomaa, Kane Pike Josh Harrington, Melvin Pierson, Louie Cadwell, Martin Mastic and rookie Danny Doyle as feature winners in 2013.
The cars and stars of the USAC Dirt Midget Association powered by Ignite Racing Fuels are back in action for Walker Motor Sales Night. Bear Ridge favorite Kevin “The Fairlee Flier” Chaffee leads the points entering the event, with former Champion “Flat Foot” Joe Krawiec second.

WINCHESTER, NH – Tyler Janovsky and Michael McGoldrick III each did it for the first time ever Saturday, August 3, at Monadnock Speedway, while Barry Gray added to his long list of conquests at the high-banked speedplant.
Gray, McGoldrick, and Janovsky each took a victory lap at the fast quarter-mile, as did Sportsman Modified feature winner Tyler Jarvenpaa, Super Stock victor Dave Striebel, and Mini Stock strongman Chris McTaggart.
The Granite State Pro Stock Series 100-lapper was Mike Parks’ to lose. Starting on the pole the veteran wheelsman held off Larry Gelinas and Barry Gray for 78 laps, until a momentary bobble on a restart allowed Gray to speed by and then run out the race from the point.
Gray took second from Gelinas on lap 30 and the potent trio then played high-speed bumper tag until the third of three late-70s cautions set up the only lead change of the event. With Gray adding to his long list of Monadnock feature wins, Parks was rock solid as he earned the runner-up finish with Gelinas glued to his bumper as the top three took the checkers under a blanket.

Fred Astle, Charlie Rose, Scott Serydynski and Rob Murphy are Seekonk Speedway winners.
Fred Astle picked up his second win of the season in the 40 lap Pro Stock feature. After waiting out a 90 minute rain delay, the Pro Stocks finally hit the speedway with 23 cars in tow. Mike Brightman jumped out front early before the first caution came out, eliminating Ryan Vanasse and Bob Tripp. Brightman and Kyle Casper took off on the restart, and Casper started putting heavy pressure on the Acushnet native right away. On lap 9, there was contact, with Brightman spinning out of the lead. Casper was penalized to the rear.
Once back underway, Astle jumped out front with Tom Scully Jr trying to hold off Dick Houlihan to no avail. Houly moved into second with Scully third. The trio continued to fight for the lead for the next several laps before the former 2 time champion moved to the outside to pressure Astle. With Houlihan working the outside, Scully tried several appetites to squeeze under Astle, but could not find the room. Over the final 15 plus laps, Houlihan and Astle races wheel to wheel for the lead, with Dick officially leading lap 33. Astle battled back and held of Houly at the stripe for the win. Houlihan was second, with Scully Jr, Kevin Casper and Dave Darling rounding out the top five.

“It’s not the way I wanted to win my first feature,” Joey Parker told track announcer Kyle Coppola in his victory interview at the stripe following his lap with the checkered flag in hand. “But I guess I’ll take it.” He had stubbornly pursued Nick Lascoula after leading the first eight circuits in a race that ran caution free for the full 25 laps. At the checkers, Lascoula had led Parker over the line one car ahead. But he had been called for a bad start and track officials penalized Lascoula a single place in the finishing stats, elevating Parker to Victory Lane following the fierce battle. Al Wisialko, Brandon Martinez and Matthew Carpenter completed the top five.

Jamie Salley jumped past polesitter Ed Gould out of turn two on the initial lap of the 30-lap Pure Stocks feature, to grab the lead. Gould flew into a stall and fell rapidly to seventh place over the next two laps before he could recover. Meanwhile, Ed Flanagan grappled onto Salley’s bumper with Bill Doyle all over his back and John Robidoux treating Doyle to the same. Jesse Melberg had come from seventh to fifth to pursue them, got by Robidoux for fourth, and went outside of Doyle for a shot at third. With two to go, Salley was leading a tight parade toward the finish. Salley roared home to the flying checkers, just .281 seconds ahead of the tenacious Doyle. Melberg was another .6 back followed by Robidoux and Heroux.

Barre, VT – Thunder Road International Speedbowl Harvest Equipment night scheduled for Sunday, August 4 has been postponed due to heavy rains. The event has been rescheduled for tomorrow, Monday, August 5. Post time is 6:00pm.
Thunder Road Late Models, Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen, and Allen Lumber Street Stocks will be in action with qualifying beginning at 6:00pm. The front gate will open at 4:30pm.
