150 Laps of the Best Racing of the Season!
This Saturday at 7PM, the Best of the Best Pro Stock 150 highlights racing action at Speedway 660. In addition to one of the biggest pro stock races of the season, fans will also see competition in four other exciting divisions.
“The Best of the Best 150 is one of our most exciting events of the year and there will be a strong field of competitors from our RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock Division, plus this race always generates interest from the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour and Pro All Star Series race teams” said Speedway 660’s Michelle Roy. “The winner gets more than a trip to the Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane on Saturday night, they’ll get an guaranteed starting position in the Auto Value 250, coming up on SpeedWeekend.”

WEATHER POSTPONES VMRS RACE AT THOMPSON
THOMPSON, CT. It has become a familiar refrain in 2013, but a persistent drizzle and forecasts for heavier rains this afternoon and evening have forced the postponement of the Thursday Night Thunder race program at Thompson Speedway. The program was to feature the Valenti Modified Racing Series and Thompson’s own NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing.
Officials from both Thompson Speedway and the Valenti Modified Racing Series will announce a makeup date as soon as one can be established.

It took Garett Hayman until the last lap of the 20 lap Little Enduro feature to figure out a way to pass Brewer’s Sam Betts, but he edged by Betts on the backstretch and held the lead to the checkers, with Betts finishing second, less than a car length behind. Betts had led the caution free event most of the way with Hayman coming from his 8th place starting spot to pester Betts for the lead for the entire second half of the race. Hayman finally made his car stick down on the inside groove to complete the pass for the win. Rick Gomm of Dixmont finished third, with Carmel’s Denis Burns in fourth. Scott Bonney of Bangor finished fifth.
In the Stars of Tomorrow, William McCullough of Kenduskeag took the lead from Frankfort’s Kyle Moore and Dustin Durrell of Newburgh on the final lap after the three young drivers raced side by side and nose to tail for the lead. Moore finished second with Durrell coming home third in the 15 lap feature that was stopped three times for the caution flag and once for the red when Alex Runci of Belfast rolled over twice in turn four on the 9th lap. Runci climbed out of the car uninjured, but was out of action for the rest of the night. Zachery Horlieca of Hudson was fourth with Marcus Dunn of Newburgh finishing fifth.

ACT “International 500” winner looking for first win at Vermont track
WEST HAVEN, VT – One of America’s hottest short track stock car drivers is headed for Vermont’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, July 28. Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., the 24 year-old star from Hudson, NH, will try to continue building on his unprecedented string of success as the American-Canadian Tour Late Models return for the inaugural St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 150 presented by Cat Country 105.3.
The driver known as “Joey Pole” won the first-ever ACT International 500 at Airborne Speedway on Sunday, July 21, pocketing more than $30,000 for his win. The victory was his fourth in the last five ACT races dating back to June 15 – a streak that has garnered some national attention.

Wiscasset Speedway will present a special race program on Saturday July 27th, celebrating the 44th birthday of Maine’s fastest track. The race program will showcase all seven of the track’s weekly divisions and other special ceremonies will take place to commemorate the occasion.
A special pre-race dedication ceremony, honoring track builder / founder Wilford Cronk will take place at 5:00pm on the main grandstand side, followed by racing beginning at 5:30pm. Following heat race action the track will hold a driver recognition ceremony on the track during intermission; spotlighting over 50 current & former champions and popular drivers who have contributed to Wiscasset’s history.

Jamie “The Hurricane” Fisher of Shelburne, driving the S. D. Ireland No. 18, led the final 18 laps of the Safelite Auto Glass Late Model 50 to become the 6th different winner in the last six races Thursday at Thunder Road. It was the first Late Model victory at the “Nation’s Site of Excitement” since 2009 for the former track champion as well as the 14th of his career.
Fisher overtook rookie Jason Corliss for the lead after gaining three spots in the previous eight laps. Joey Laquerre got underneath Corliss for 2nd when Corliss bobbled in turn four with seven circuits left, but couldn’t close in on Fisher. Corliss wound up 3rd, three car-lengths ahead of Derrick O’Donnell whose 4th-place effort unofficially moved him into lead in the championship point standings. Brooks Clark completed the top-five.
“The car felt better up on the outside,” Fisher said. “Once I got a little daylight on Joey, I thought I was in good shape. It’s been a while.” Fisher’s drive for the lead was set up by the second and final caution after Phil Scott’s spin on lap 23. Fisher was alongside Corliss on the front row with Laquerre and Eric Chase in row two. Nick Sweet, who began the night atop the standings, placed 11th. Positions 6-10 went to Jean-Paul Cyr, Dave Pembroke, Mike Bailey, Boomer Morris and Cody Blake.

ACT International 500: Emily Packard
Airborne Speedway Race Report
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., finished 32nd overall in the inaugural ACT International 500 at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Sunday, July 21. Packard was collected in a multi-car crash on the very first lap in the second of three 100-lap segments that made up the unique ACT Late Model tour event, ending the day early for the No. 9x Northstar Fireworks/Berlin Optical Expressions Ford Fusion. Packard qualified 25th for the 40-car field on the .500-mile oval, and she finished 21st in the opening 100-lap segment. When the front row got together on the initial start of Segment No. 2, several cars stacked up and were left with heavy damage. Packard hit the frontstretch wall, pushing her radiator all the way into her engine and bending the rear end of the car to effectively force her out of the event.

Stafford Speedway returned to NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing action with the 40th Annual Coors Light SK Modified® Xtra Mart Xtra D 80. Taking home the big win of the night was Ted Christopher in the extra distance classic. Christopher’s win was not only his second SK Modified® win of the 2013 season, but it was his 100th career SK Modified® win at Stafford. Christopher was one of five drivers to take home a $300 bonus from Xtra Mart Convenience Stores as Xtra Mart put up a total of $1,500 that was divided evenly among the top-5 finishers.
In other NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action, Adam Gray continued his hot 2013 season with his third win in the 30-lap Late Model feature, Jay Goff scored his first win of the season in the 20-lap SK Light feature, D.J. Burnham was victorious for the second time in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature, and Kyle Casagrande took his first win of the year in the 15-lap DARE Stock feature.
Waterford Speedbowl beat an early rain shower before returning to NASCAR racing on Saturday evening after a scheduled week off. The track’s INEX racing divisions were vaulted into the spotlight, landing the Bandolero and Legend Cars race winners a guaranteed starting spot in a national event for each division. Defending Speedbowl Legend Cars champion Paul Kusheba of Monroe won a thrilling race in a photo finish while Anthony Marvin of Colchester won the Bandolero feature.

Canaan, NH – The Valenti Modified Racing Series 10th Anniversary Tour wraps up July with a stop at Thompson Speedway, Thompson, CT, this Thursday, July 25.
The series, coming off a very competitive event at Oxford, ME, this past weekend, also features a hotly contested points battle for the 2013 championship.
Millis, MA, driver Tommy Barrett saw his 18- point lead cut to two by Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, PA, the Oxford, winner.
Both drivers are expected entries for the Thompson show, the second of three races there this year. The first event was lost to rain in May.
