THE STORY

WESTBROOK, Maine – John Peters of Westbrook, Maine, and the Amsoil NELCAR Legends Tour hit the track for a double-dip this week, with the VIP Thursday Thunder 25 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Thursday, June 20, followed by a return trip to Wiscasset Speedway in Wiscasset, Maine, for a 25-lap event on Saturday, June 22. Peters is the most recent winner on the Legends circuit, having been credited with the victory in a rain-shortened event at Beech Ridge on June 13. Peters also has two career starts at Wiscasset, including a fifth-place finish there last October and a seventh-place effort in the 2013 Amsoil NELCAR Legends Tour season opener back in April.

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., joins the stout weekly Late Model field at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., for the Casella Waste Management 50 on Thursday, June 20. Packard sits 15th in the Thunder Road standings after two races in her first full season of competition at the tight, quarter-mile bullring. Thursday night’s program marks the first Thursday night event of the season at Thunder Road, and Packard hopes her recent work with two-time track champion Nick Sweet of Barre, Vt., will pay dividends when she hits the track this week.

Middlebury Drivers Hot Entering Carrara “Hometown Heroes” Night at Devil’s Bowl

WEST HAVEN, VT – A pair of stock car drivers from Middlebury, VT have been bringing trophies home by the truckload at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. With just three race events completed in 2013, veteran Todd Stone and 17 year-old Hunter Bates each have two NASCAR Whelen All-American Series victories apiece and find themselves riding a wave of momentum entering the Carrara Masonry & Concrete “Hometown Heroes” event on Friday, June 21 at 7:00pm.

It’s the first time since the early 70’s since that series has made an appearance at NED. All of the top names in several pro classes will be in action including Funny Car standout John Force. Also competing in that class is Bob Tasca, III of Cranston, RI. Qualifying goes Friday, Eliminations Saturday and the Finals go Sunday.

Big Weekend For PASS Begins With “Rumble” At Southern National

PASS RacingCHARLOTTE, NC (June 18) – After nearly a month off thanks to mother nature, the East Coast’s top Super Late Model drivers will have a chance to showcase their talents at two of the country’s top short tracks this weekend. On Saturday, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models and PASS Pro Late Models will return to Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, NC, while the PASS North Super Late Models and PASS Modifieds will be back in action on Sunday at Maine’s legendary Oxford Plains Speedway.

Mitchell navigates winning the PASS Columbia River 150 at WVSO

PASS RacingWENATCHEE, Wash. – When you have your worst qualifying effort in over 4 years, you might just wonder if you might have missed the set up but Saturday night Shane Mitchell proved everyone wrong. After qualifying towards the tail end of the field Shane Mitchell came up with his first ever PASS win in the Montana Manroc Columbia River 150. “after qualifying we thought we got it wrong but we kept it and dad was real nervous” Mitchell said in victory lane “When the sun went down the car just came to us and I couldn’t be happier with the win”

The Rough Riders, are a division of 6-cylinder cars, ten years old or older, designed to introduce competitors to racing in a way that is cheap, simple, and most of all, fun. The cars will be painted with family friendly themes, and will have their first event of 2013 on the high banks this Thursday, June 20.

CANAAN, N.H. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., met with a couple rounds of tough luck at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., finishing 28th in the ACT Late Model Tour 150 on Saturday, June 15. Packard qualified through the first round in the No. 9x Northstar Fireworks/Berlin Optical Expressions Ford Fusion, but the 16-year-old driver was spun at the hands of two other competitors in separate incidents before the race was even 30 laps old. With heavy damage to the car itself, Packard retired from the event early.
