Speedway 95For the second time in the month of May, poor weather conditions have caused racing at the 1/3 mile Hermon oval to be cancelled. With the forecast showing no promise, track officials called the program early in the day to give drivers and fans as much notice as possible that the racing program would not be held.

5th Annual El Camino Night set for June 14 at Lee USA Speedway

The National El Camino Owners Association (NECOA) will be holding its 5th annual “El Camino Night” at Lee USA Speedway on Route 125 in Lee, New Hampshire on Friday, June 14. Over 35 owners of these unique “half car/half truck” vehicles — built between 1959 and 1987 — will be displaying their rides to the NASCAR race fans before they go on the oval track for “Parade Laps” where they will be introduced by Track Manager Bob Watson of the Lee Speedway. An exciting “Burn-Out Contest” will take place where the fans will choose the winner of a trophy for smoking the tires and leaving rubber on the track.

Grissom Holds Off Fogleman For PASS South Win At Caraway

PASS RacingASHEBORO, NC (May 24) – Kyle Grissom took the lead from Brandon Ward on a lap 84 restart and held off points leader Jay Fogleman to win the “Krazy” Kevin Powell 150 for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models Friday night at Caraway Speedway. Grissom’s seventh career PASS South Super Late Model win moves him to within four points of Fogleman headed to the next series event in two weeks at South Boston Speedway.

Série ACT 100 at Montmagny Postponed

Montmagny, QC — The ACT 100 at Autodrome Montmagny in Montmagny, QC scheduled for Saturday, May 25 has been postponed due to weather.

The race scheduled for Saturday would have been the season opener for the Série ACT, kicking off an 11-race championship chase with unprecedented money on the line. The series came to the track three times in 2012, seeing former Champions Karl Allard, Patrick Laperle, and 2013 title favorite Jean-Francois Dery take victories. A make-up date will be announced in the near future.

Thunder Road’s Memorial Day Classic Postponed

Barre, VT – The 51st Annual Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic at Barre’s Thunder Road scheduled for Sunday, May 26 has been postponed to Monday, May 27 for a Memorial Day special due to inclement weather.

The Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic will serve as the first race of the Vermont State Championship Series as well as the first point-counting event for the King of the Road Title at Thunder Road. The Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen and Allen Lumber Street Stocks will continue their point battles, along with a special first-time appearance from the Devil’s Bowl Dirt Modifieds.

Camping will still be allowed at Thunder Road for the weekend, starting at noon on Friday, May 24.

Post time will be 1:30pm for The 51st Annual Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on Monday, May 27.

WEST HAVEN, VT – Saturated grounds and a dismal weather forecast will keep Devil’s Bowl Speedway silent on Friday, May 24 as the People’s United Bank Memorial Day Special stock car event has been washed out.

Details regarding the rescheduling of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championship races for the track’s Bond Auto Parts Modified, Late Model, Renegade, and Central Vermont Motorcycles Mini Stock divisions will be announced soon. Todd Stone of Middlebury, VT leads the Modified point standings, with Richie Turner of Fairfax, VT on top in the Renegades and Chris LaVair of Gabriels, NY pacing the Mini Stocks; Friday’s event was scheduled to be the championship opener for the Late Model division.

WINDHAM, Maine – Third-generation champion Bradley Babb of Windham, Maine, returns to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, May 25, for the season-opening Pro Series 40. Babb won the 2012 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track championship at Beech Ridge last season after winning this race, and he plans on trying to become the track’s first third-generation multi-time champion – after both his grandfather, Robert Babb Sr., and father, Bobby Babb, each won multiple championships during their careers at the .333-mile oval. EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., has a doubleheader holiday weekend of Late Model racing in store when she returns to NASCAR Whelen All-American Series competition at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., on Saturday, May 25, before heading to Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., for the first round of the Vermont State Championship Series with with Mekkelson RV Memorial Day Classic 100 on Sunday, May 26. Packard finished a disappointing 14th in the season opener at Canaan last weekend, though she left encouraged after having the fastest car in all three practice sessions during the day. After a short turnaround following Saturday night’s 35-lap Late Model feature, she’ll head to Thunder Road, where she won one of four qualifying races for the ACT Late Model Tour event there last month. FALMOUTH, Maine – Bobby Timmons III of Windham, Maine, returns to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series with a 40-lap Pro Series feature event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, May 25. Timmons finished sixth in the final Pro Series standings in his first full season of competition last year, and the Mulkern Racing No. 48 Timmons Machine/Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge returns in 2013 with championship aspirations for the second-generation driver.
