Dave Darling used a mid race restart to find himself leading the pack and went on to pick up his second win of the season. Darling started 16 again, avoiding several incidents in front of him. By lap ten, he had cracked the top five, and was sitting second on a lap 17 restart when leader Mike Brightman broke and axle, allowing the defending champion to move his Bristol Toyota Scion Camry to the top of the leader board. Once out front, Darling never looked back, starting the season undefeated in the first two events.

Another Photo Finish: Hoar Wins

HoarPlattsburgh, NY – Two weeks ago at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, Eight-time American Canadian Tour Stock Car Champion Brian Hoar lost the race by .028 of a second – the closest margin of victory in ACT history. The ACT 100 at Airborne Speedway on Saturday, May 18 was decided by the exact same margin, but this time it was all Hoar, earning the victory with an epic last lap pass of ACT Point Leader Jimmy Hebert, leaving rival Wayne Helliwell, Jr. to round out the podium in third.

In the early going, Hebert muscled by polesitter Eric Chase in the outside lane to gain the lead, bringing Helliwell in tow along with Tiverton, RI’s Ray Parent. The trio split from the field, setting a blistering pace that sent the leaders into lap traffic before lap 30 of the 100-lap event. Meanwhile, Hoar quietly worked his way from his 13th starting position into the top five.

COOLIDGE MOTORSPORTS: Coolidge Settles For 12th At Oxford

Oxford Championship Series: Chris Coolidge
Oxford Plains Speedway Race Report

OXFORD, Maine – Chris Coolidge of Norway, Maine, finished 12th in the Oxford Championship Series 40-lap Pro Late Model feature at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Friday, May 17. One of Coolidge’s best runs in the last three seasons came to a disappointing end when, while battling for the lead, he was collected by a spinning lapped car off the final corner on the final lap. Coolidge led 35 laps after starting third in the 16-car field and taking over the top spot on Lap 4. The No. 72 Bill’s Automotive/Lloyd’s Land Chevrolet built a lead of more than a straightaway during the middle stages of the event, but the car’s handling went away in the closing laps and allowed the cars chasing Coolidge to close in on him. A chance at his first career Pro Late Model podium finish disappeared when he stopped just inches short of the frontstretch wall while trying to avoid a wrecking competitor.
