Dave Pembroke Crowned “King of the Road” at 2011 Thunder Road Banquet of Champions

Barre, VT – Montpelier’s Dave Pembroke was honored as the 2011 “King of the Road” at the 2011 Thunder Road Banquet of Champions on Saturday, December 10 at the Barre Elks Club. Pembroke put together one of the biggest comebacks in Thunder Road history to claim his second career Late Model title. During their first season in a Ford powered ride, Pembroke and his family team erased an 80 point deficit with back-to-back feature wins at mid-season. The Vermont State Employees Credit Union/Lamoille Valley Ford team earned the first Thunder Road track title for Ford in over twenty years. The Barre Elks Club was sold out with team members, officials and fans on hand to honor Pembroke, who claimed a $5,000 point fund check.

Airborne Speedway forms new division

South Plattsburgh, NY – Airborne Speedway promoter Mike Perrotte has announced plans to introduce a DIRTcar Modified Sportsman class as a weekly division in 2012.

“The DIRT Sportsman cars are the same as the Ernie’s Discount Tools Modifieds, except they will have 602 GM crate engines like our full-fendered J&S Steel Sportsmen,” Perrotte said.

USAC DMA Teammates Krawiec and Chaffee Compete for Driver of the Year Honors

Chester, VT – Joe Krawiec of Bristol, CT and Kevin Chaffee of Fairlee, VT spent the 2011 season as teammates on the Skip Matczak owned, Seals-It sponsored USAC DMA Midget team competing at Bear Ridge Speedway. They often battled for supremacy on the race track and now they’re competing for post season honors in the Vermont Motorsports Magazine Driver of the Year balloting. Race fans can vote on-line for either Krawiec or Chaffee at vtmotormag.com every day until December 16.

ACT TEAMS WILL RECEIVE OVER $100,000 IN POINT FUND AWARDS

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) announced today that the top teams of the US-based ACT Tour, the Quebec based ACT Castrol Series, and Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl will receive in excess of $100,000 in championship point fund awards at the season-ending ACT banquets to be held in December, 2011 and January, 2012.

Highest money earners are car owners Rick Paya from the ACT US Tour and Patrick Laperle from the ACT Castrol Series. They will each receive year-end point fund checks of $10,000.00. Both teams ran the full twelve (12) race series in their respective areas.

STAFFORD SPEEDWAY ADDS PRO ALL-STAR SERIES SUPER LATE MODEL EVENT TO ITS 2012 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

change with regards to its 2012 schedule. The 2012 schedule brought with it
a host of new events in the form of extra distance and double feature
nights, as well as a new Saturday event. The changes to the 2012 schedule
continue as the Connecticut half-mile facility has announced that they will
host the Pro All-Star Series (PASS) for the very first time on Sunday,
August 26.

ACT ANNOUNCES 2012 SCHEDULE

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian US Tour (ACT) 2012 schedule will feature ten (10) point-counting events at nine different tracks. In addition, there will be four ‘special’ non-point counting events that most ACT teams will put on their 2012 calendars.

Lee USA Speedway in Lee, New Hampshire will continue the tradition of opening the ACT Late Model race season with the New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 on Sunday, April 15, 2012.

Kevin Gambacorta, and Don Wood as the 2011 Stafford Motor Speedway NASCAR
Whelen All-American Series track champions.
