Hudson NH –Hudson Speedway opened its doors for its 64th consecutive season of auto racing this past Sunday May 22nd with Billy Clement Jr., Justin Beecher, and Johnny Reefer all finding their way to victory lane.
Bob Riopelle had the pole position and took the lead at the drop the green flag of the Rookie Stock feature and held the top spot for the first few laps. Clement Jr. made his way up from the third starting spot to challenge Riopelle for the lead and took to the outside groove and made the pass for the lead a lap later. Clement held the top spot from that point until the finish in the caution free event. Riopelle held off several challenges and came home second. John Morin Jr. also had a podium finish coming in third place. Dan Murphy Jr. had a bumpy fourth place finish and Corrie Merritt finished fifth. After Merritt it was Jerry ‘No Brakes’ Lepage, Scotty Duval, Bill Fiske, Jim Junior, Keith ‘Slika’ Ennis, C.J. McLaughlin, Mike McHugh and Ryan Joyce. (more…)

penalties following the running of the May 20 NASCAR Whelen All-American
Series feature events.
Woody Pitkat, driver of the No. 88 Late Model, and Ryan Posocco, driver of
the No. 48 Late Model, have been penalized for a rules violation committed

Cody Hodgson: NASCAR K&N Pro Series East
Iowa Speedway Race Report
NEWTON, Iowa – Cody Hodgson of Escalon, Calif., finished 12th in NASCAR K&N Pro Series Pork ‘Be Inspired’ 175 at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa, on Saturday, May 21. Hodgson finished eighth among K&N Pro Serie East teams in the event and ran as high as fourth in the second half of the combination K&N Pro Series East and K&N Pro Series West teams. Hodgson qualified the Dave Davis Motorsports entry 12th out of 58 cars to give the team its best-ever qualifying effort in the event. With his finish, Hodgson moved unofficially to fourth in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings. (more…)
TWO BIG NIGHTS AT THOMPSON INT’L SPEEDWAY THIS WEEK
THOMPSON, CT. High speed, high tech competitive NASCAR racing to demolition and destruction are on this week’s menu at the Thompson International Speedway. Thursday Night Thompson Thunder with NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing is the Thursday night attraction. Sunday night the track changes gears and presents the annual Memorial Day weekend Eve of Destruction.
Thursday night’s racing spotlight will be on the XTRA/MART Limited Sportsman division. Race teams in this division will compete in their longest race of the season. This 40-lap dash is the race of the season for the XTRA/MART Limited Sportsman. The extra money and the prestige of winning this event is an accomplishment that stays with a driver and his team all season long. A similar extra distance race is slated for the Sunoco Modifieds, Super Late Models, Thompson Modifieds, Late Models and Monster Minis during the 2011 racing season. OXFORD, Maine – Mother Nature struck again this past weekend as rain and persistent mist forced the postponement of the Saturday’s Fan Appreciation Night presented by 99.9 The Wolf.
Fan Appreciation night has been rescheduled for Friday, May 27. Four Speedway divisions, the Late Models, Strictly Stocks, Mini Stocks and Oxford Outlaws, will kick off the season at a special starting time of 7:30. (more…)
West Haven, VT – Joey Polewarczyk Jr fought an ill-handling car to a disappointing 19th place finish at his first ever trip to the recently paved half-mile speedway.
The ACT Late Model Tour made its Devil’s Bowl debut with a strong 40 Late Models, vying for 32 starting spots. Joey started last (13th) in his Heat Race. “We were once again the fastest during practice and we almost had the car to where it could turn in the center of the corner like I like” Polewarczyk states. “We almost qualified through our Heat Race; we set ourselves up for a good Consolation race starting spot”
During the Consolation race, Polewarczyk came together with another car and knocked the suspension out of tolerance. “We knocked the Toe out which we were able to fix before the main event. We qualified and started in the 23rd starting spot and we really thought we had a contending car” says Polewarczyk (more…)
Unity, Maine — Jeff Burgess of Fairfield said before the season started that he was aiming to win more races, and he got an excellent start at fulfilling that goal with a 111-lap Late Model score to top the opening day racing card at Unity Raceway on Sunday.
Starting from the pole position, Burgess gave up the top spot on a couple of occasions, but when the checkered flag waved and the $1,111 winner’s check was presented the full-time race car fabricator was celebrating in victory lane. (more…)
West Haven, VT – Seven-time and defending ACT Late Model Tour Champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT claimed his second straight Spring Green and his second win of the 2011 season at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, May 21. Hoar won a hard fought battle with leader Craig Bushey and later John Donahue to lead the final 36 laps and earn the win. Hoar’s win came in his first event in his new Ford powered ride out of the Rick Paya stables.
Shelburne, VT’s Jamie Fisher and Windham, ME’s Brad Babb swapped the lead early in the event as they sat on the front row after earning +6’s in ACT’s +/- handicap system. Bushey took over from his sixth place starting position on lap seven and would swap the lead with several drivers for the majority of the event including Ricky Rolfe and Fisher before giving up the lead for good to Hoar on lap seventy five and faded to eighth. South Plattsburgh – In a Canadian battle for the checkers, Martin Roy of Napierville, QC wheeled around Pierre Berthiaume of Joliette, QC on a lap 19 restart and went on to win the Modified 30-lap feature at Airborne Speedway.
Berthiaume had held off Roy, Bryant Trim and Patrick Dupree for 15 laps before the race’s fourth caution closed the field. Dupree left on the hook after contact on the backstretch as Greg Atkins of Clintonville and George Foley of Saranac Lake moved into contention. (more…)
