111-lap Late Model race opens 2011 Unity Raceway season Sunday, May 15

Unity, Maine – Opening day at Unity Raceway is set for this Sunday afternoon, May 15 with a full card of racing topped by a 111-lap Late Model feature race.

Promoters George and Sherry Fernald enter their fourth season operating the track dubbed “Maine’s Toughest Racing Oval” with confidence that both car counts and fan attendance will once again be on the rise.

10 Laps with NELCAR Driver Anthony Pagliarulo

Anthony Pagliarulo, is one of NELCAR’s young guns, driving the number 87 legend car. Anthony is looking to capture his first NELCAR career win this season. This past weekend the legends were at Seekonk Speedbowl which is in Anthony’s home state of Massachusetts. Though the sky was full dark clouds the rain held off long enough for the legends to take checkered flag. Anthony finished the 2010 season in 10th place and after 3 races this season he is currently in tenth place once again.

RESULTS FOR MAY 6th AT LEE USA SPEEDWAY

Lee, NH – Lee USA Speedway opened up the regular season on Friday night, with an action-packed 25-lap Benson Lumber and Hardware sponsored NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Small Block Supermodified feature the first event to go into the record books.

Mike Spurling and 2010 Rookie of the Year Tony Carroll led the 16-car field to green, with Spurling gaining the advantage before a quick yellow slowed the action. When racing resumed, George Perreault, Jr. quickly made his way past Spurling and into the lead, setting the pace until lap six.

Airborne Speedway – May 7, 2011
South Plattsburgh – Defending Airborne DIRTcar Modifed champion Patrick Dupree started 15th in a 30-car car field, reeled in leaders Martin Roy and Greg Atkins on lap 39 and went on to win the Della Auto Group 50-lap season opener Saturday night.

Dupree started 15th and benefitted early when the race got off to a rocky start. Three yellows were needed to complete the first three laps. His Saranac Country Store/Fournier’s Farm Equipment No. 24 was up to sixth after the three restarts. (more…)

SUNOCO MODIFIEDS TO BENEFIT FROM BIG DOLLAR INCREASE THIS THURSDAY AT THOMPSON

THOMPSON, CT. The Sunoco Modified division will see a big increase in their race pay off this Thursday thanks to LaFramboise Well Drilling and Water Service of Thompson. The winner of this week’s 30-lap main event will receive $2,000.00 for their efforts and just about everyone else will see additional money thanks to the local well drilling and water service company. This race, like all at Thompson, is open to any Sunoco Modified type car that races in Connecticut.
