Tim Campbell Takes Allen Lumber Street Stock Special

Barre, VT – Swanton’s Taber Gagne earned the $3,000 pay day in the 26th Annual M&M Beverage 200 at Barre’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl on Sunday, August 8. The former Airborne Speedway Tiger Sportsman competitor was the only driver to complete all 200 laps. A total of 104 cars from all over the Northeast were on hand to take their shot at the top prize.

Tim Campbell of West Topsham earned his fifth win of the 2010 Thunder Road Allen Lumber Street Stock season in the 50 lap M&M Beverage special. Campbell worked his way into the lead just before the halfway point from his seventeenth starting position. He would hold off a hard charging Mike MacAskill, who won last season’s Street Stock special, without giving up the lead for the remainder of the event.

Sprint Cars Visit Big Daddy’s Speedbowl

The newly rebuilt, 50 year old dirt racing facility in Wentworth, NH returned to its traditional Saturday night racing this week. The first night of Saturday racing was well received by race teams and fans as evidenced by a solid car count and a great fan turnout.

The SCoNE Sprint Cars made their fourth appearance of the season this week sharing the race card with the 5 regular stock car divisions. Dan Boune’s track crew did their magic preparing a fast and smooth surface for the racers.

WESTFIELD, MA – After three years without a trip to victory lane, Kendall Segar is having a season that makes the working and waiting worthwhile. The 18 year old criminal justice student at Manchester (CT) Community College finished second in her heat and then went on to capture her third 270cc Mini Sprint feature of the year at Whip City Speedway.

BOURQUES AND LANDRY RECORD GRAND SLAMS

AT CFS ON SATURDAY NIGHT

(Shediac, N.B.) — Dan Bourque, Scott Bourque and Martin Landry all recorded grand slams Saturday night during stock car racing action at the Centre for Speed (CFS), Atlantic Canada’s Super Speedway and “Metro Moncton’s Playground of Power”.

In Super Sportsman action, the 2009 defending CFS points champion finally put it all together after many hours of work during the week to get his NAPA Auto Parts Grand Prix ready for Saturday evening’s racing program. Dan Bourque (#15) of Grande Digue won all three races in convincing fashion, picking up first place honours in the 10-lap heat, semi-final and 25-lap feature – his first feature win of 2010. In the main event, Bourque crossed the line ahead of the division’s current points leader, Craig Ward (#02) of Riverview and rookie sensation Matt Rodgers (#42) of Smithtown.

Unity, Maine – In a wild 35-lap feature race for the headlining Unity Raceway Late Model division, Burnham’s Frank Moulton survived to post his second straight win Saturday night.

Other main event victors were Corey Walker (Augusta), Ricky Burgess, Jr. (Waterville), Chris King (Burnham), Mike Wilson (Chelsea), Justin Moore (Madison), Chelsea Young (Winterport), Cole Robinson (Clinton) and Zach Gagnon (Clinton).

A lap 28 spin by Jason Witts of Dixmont turned a choo-choo- train Late Model race into a seven lap shoot out with the top ten drivers jockeying for positions as they raced to the finish. Josh St. Clair of Liberty had led from the drop of the green, through a restart on lap 3, until the caution flew for Witts’ spin. On the restart, Ryan Deane of Winterport, who had been following St. Clair while fighting off a persistent threat from Steuben’s Brenton Parritt, out gunned St. Clair and took the lead for two laps. St. Clair went to the bottom and worked his way back past Deane, retaking the lead on lap 30. It wasn’t easy for St. Clair from there though, as Parritt followed him past Deane and challenged him for the lead over the last three laps. (more…)

Karl Allard Wins Série ACT Castrol Edge 150 at Autodrome Chaudiere

Vallee-Jonction, QC – St-Felicien’s Karl Allard picked up his fifth Série ACT Castrol Edge event of the 2010 season and his second in a row at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jonction, QC on Saturday, August 7. Allard fought off 2009 champion Donald Theetge over the final 65 laps to earn the win.

David Michaud took the lead from outside pole-sitter Daniel Descoste on lap 15 and would hold the lead through lap 54 before Patrick Laperle got by on a restart. Laperle lost the lead on lap 83 when he went around off the nose of second place runner Jean-François Déry.

Saturday night over 4000 fans were treated to some fantastic racing at Speedway 660. Some of the best sportsman cars from all over Atlantic Canada make their way to the Geary Woods for the Firecracker 150. The second big sportsman event of the year saw 30 cars try to qualify for 24 spots in the main event. Fans of the speedway were treated to some amazing weather to go along with the great on track racing. There was also racing in the Atlantic Open Wheel Modifieds as well as the LeisureFamilyRV.com street stock division.
