Fredericton-It was a beautiful night for racing in the Geary woods. Fans not only got to enjoy the racing but they also got to enjoy the nice summer weather that was a little late coming.
It was definitely an action packed evening with racing regular racing in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman, Irving Lubricant’s Pro Stocks, the debut of the 4-cylinders and last but not least the Dent Daddy Street Stock 75.
First off, in the Martin’s Home Heating division, Dave Biggar took his yellow # 70 to the Auto Pride victory lane in the 30-lap feature. Bigger didnt waste any time moving up in the feature and passing Steve Halpin who started on the pole. Halpin quickly sprinted into the lead and led for quite a few laps until Dave Biggar challenged him. Once Biggar took the lead there was no looking back. The championship contenders were boxed in mid field for most of the race. Points leader Mike Banks did make it to a fifth place finish which will really help in the points. Steve Halpin had a good run finishing second and a strong run by Brent Roy who finished in third. This was a good night for the young guys.
In the Irving Lubricant’s Pro Stock division, the Nackawic Night Train Brian Gillespie took the early lead and was soon challenged by the Big Black Dodge of Glenn Rasmussen. The two battled back and forth for many laps until Rasmussen took the lead. Greg Fahey came into the picture and that is when the excitement started. The two, Rasmussen and Fahey battled back and forth for many laps and then Gillespie decide he wanted in on the action. The three spent the last 10 laps rubbing, making it three wide in a heavy exciting battle until the very end. Greg Fahey came across the finish line just inches in front of Rasmussen who finished in second and The Night Train in third. It was a very exciting race. After all rubbing is racing and these guys did just that and kept it clean at the same time.
In the Dent Daddy Street Stock 75 there was also a lot of action. It is a good thing for some of the drivers that this was not a point’s event. Some of the point contenders had some mechanical problems tonight. Point leader Brian Fox had to retire from the race early as he had mechanical problems on lap 1. Rick Cashol sprinted out to the early lead passing Charles Gaddess. Gaddess started on the pole and has been strong in the past couple of weeks. Gaddess was not willing to give up first position without a fight. Matt Matheson also wanted to lead the race. Matheson and Cashol battled for most of the race. Cashol took his # 54 to the Auto Pride Victory Lane, Matt Matheson finished a close second after a long battle with Cashol and rounding out the top three was Charles Gaddess. Gaddess posted his first win last weekend and continues to be on a roll. Shawn Hyslop came back from having to go in the pits due to mechanical problems and finished fourth.
It was the first night for the 4 cylinder cars at Speedway 660 and it was a big hit. We are hoping the division will grow and more people will get into driving 4 cylinders. The 4 cylinders can be seen again at Speedway 660 on August 29 for Fan Appreciation Day. Ira Farnell took the early lead in the 15-lap feature and went on to win. Finishing in second was the # 16 o of Kyle Dunster and rounding out the top three was Robert Flowers in his #2. This division is a pretty inexpensive way to get into racing. Hopefully this division will grow and people will build more cars for the next race.
All in all it was a very exciting evening of racing. There were a couple of lucky ladies who got a chance to ride in the speedway car with Pro Stock driver Glen Rasmussen as a special bonus for Ladies Night. The ladies seemed to really enjoy it.
Next weekend there will be more exciting racing coming up. So don’t miss it.

OXFORD, Maine – The fans watched Ricky Morse seemingly become the ninth different winner in 12 Oxford Networks Late Model features this season Saturday night at Oxford Plains Speedway.
The technical inspection staff discovered something different, awarding Tim Brackett the 40-lap victory after Morse was disqualified for an illegal carburetor spacer in his ride.
Brackett became only the second repeat winner of the season in Oxford’s top division, joining four-time winner Travis Adams.
Don Wentworth held off Adams’ charge at the line for what would become second. Jeff White wound up fourth, with Shawn Knight fifth.
Skip Tripp’s bid for a record-shattering 19th career Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy Strictly Stock victory fell one spot shy and was stymied by a rookie.
Rick Spaulding borrowed the Dennis Dee memorial #88D and led wire-to-wire for the 30-lap win, his first in the Championship Series.
Tripp took second, followed by Mike St. Germain, Matt Williams and Larry Emerson.
Spaulding was the second rookie to find victory lane on the evening.
When leaders Jimmy Childs and Darrell Moore tangled at the front of the Allen’s Mini Stock field, rookie Calvin Rose Jr. was in the right place to inherit his second straight 30-lap triumph.
Rose denied a late charge from point leader Justin Karkos to score the victory. Defending champion Ashley Marshall completed the top three, trailed by first-year Mini competitor Jake Burns and Larry Melcher.
Guy Childs stormed to his second Chimney Tech Outlaw victory of the season, breezing to the front in an action-packed, 20-lap encounter.
Steve Moon emerged from a nine-car battle for second with Josh Childs, Chris Burgess and Jerry Freve giving chase.
Dottie Patria tightened her grip on a likely second straight Agren Appliance Saturday Showdown title with her sixth Allen’s Ladies victory of the season.
Tori Burgess and Missy Morgan continued the theme of terrific nights for rookies, finishing second and third. Missy Blash was fourth with Annie Chartier a career-best fifth.
OPS will crank it up four straight nights next week, starting with the Acceleration Series on Wednesday. The Agren Summer Slam will run its championship round Thursday, followed by the JARRacing Photography Go Kart Series championship night and triple features Friday and the Championship Series. Starting time each night is 6:30 p.m.

Scarborough,Maine- Mike Rowe had to make a late race charge to win his third Pro Series race at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Saturday night, and in the process widened his point lead in the NASCAR division. Keith McKinnon led the opening laps until Jay Sands took over at the front on lap 6. Sands would go to work to open up a lead over the field in a race that would go caution free.
Mike Rowe was riding in the 8th position at this point of the race and went to work on the competition. Rowe moved to 5th on lap 11 and kept charging until he picked off Aaron Ricker for third on lap 12. The assault was not done yet as Rowe moved past McKinnon for second on lap 24 and set his guns on Sands who was 12 car lengths ahead.
Rowe reeled Sands in lap after lap until the 32nd lap when he got to his rear bumper and the 33rd lap when he blew into the lead. Rowe used just enough power over the final 7 laps to stay in front for his third consecutive win with Jay Sands finishing second and Keith McKinnon third. David Oliver and Aaron Ricker were fourth and fifth.
Reggie Leeman shook off weeks of miserable racing luck and dominated the 35 lap Sport Series feature event. Travis Buzzell led the opening 8 laps until Leeman disposed of him to take over the point. The only caution flag of the race appeared on lap 25 but that was not enough to slow Leeman as he easily sailed under the checkered flag for the win. Buzzell was second with Doug Wolfe third. Dalton Gagnon and Ben Tinker took the fourth and fifth place honors.
Paul Lund was in the right place at the right time Saturday night to win the Wildcat feature race. Lund went into the lead from the pole position and was cruising along with 8 cars lined up behind him. Randy Snow took a shot at the lead on lap 16 and 3 laps later found himself out in front. As Snow crossed the start/finish line on lap 26 suddenly his car slowed with a mechanical problem forcing Lund to take evasive action so as to not pile into him. Lund found himself back in the lead for the final laps and the victory. William Morris was second followed by Steve Benincasa, Lyman McKeage and Mike Ramsey.
Shawn Brackett took the lead late in the Road Runner main event and in the process extended his division point lead significantly. Don Dinsmore and Dave Turner swapped the lead early on until Brackett took over on lap 11 and cruised to the win. Turner finished second with Ray Letellier third. Matt Dow and Ed Connolly were next at the finish.

Rookie extends points lead with win No. 3

LAKEVILLE, Conn. – NASCAR Camping World Series East rookie Ryan Truex completed the road-course sweep in the Mohegan Sun 200 Saturday at Lime Rock Park to move into the driver’s seat for the series title.
Matt DiBenedetto, who sat on the pole and led a race-high 56 laps, was caught up in an accident on Lap 70 and Truex – second place at the time – assumed the lead for the second time in the race. The 17-year-old from Mayetta, N.J., then held off series veteran Eddie MacDonald on the final two restarts to earn his third victory of the season.
Truex, a Michael Waltrip Racing development driver, earned his first career victory on a road course at Watkins (N.Y.) Glen International in June and took the points lead for the first time after his first oval track win at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway in July. On Saturday at Lime Rock, his win extended his lead in the championship standings to a season-high 50 points over MacDonald.
While MacDonald record his best career effort at the 1.53-mile road course, several other contenders struggled.
Defending race and series champion Matt Kobyluck, who entered the day 60 points behind Truex, had engine trouble from the start. The team worked to get his car back out onto the track and he was able to turn in 38 laps before being involved in the Lap 70 accident that eventually caught up race leader DiBenedetto. Kobyluck had to settle for a 17th place finish and is 133 points behind Truex with just two races remaining in his bid to repeat as NASCAR Camping World Series East champion.
Brett Moffitt (ninth), Steve Park (11th) and Jody Lavender (13th) all entered the event within 100 points of Truex but lost considerable ground.
Jason Holehouse earned his best career NASCAR Camping World Series East finish with a third-place effort on Saturday. He was followed in the top five by Alex Kennedy, with a new career-best finish as well, and Mike Olsen.
Jesus Hernandez, Ryan Duff, Dustin Delaney, Brett Moffitt and Jeff Anton rounded out the top 10.
The next-to-last race of the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Series season will take place at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Heluva Good! Fall 125 is slated for Friday, Sept. 18.

BROOKLYN, Mich. (Aug. 15, 2009) — Hometown boy Brad Keselowski took advantage of a pitched battle between Kyle Busch and polesitter Brian Vickers — one that continued after Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series’ Carfax 250 race — to win for the third time in 2009.
With Busch and Vickers battling on the bottom of the track, Keselowski took advantage of the outside line to pass both drivers on the final lap at Michigan International Speedway, with Vickers finishing second and Busch third in a race that stretched Busch’s lead in the series standings to 339 points over Carl Edwards.
“I saw ’em bobble in (Turns) 3 and 4 there at the one-to-go, and I had ’em,” said Keselowski, who grew up in Rochester Hills, Mich. “I knew it. I knew I could get to the outside and kill the 32 (Vickers). I wasn’t sure about the 18 (Busch) — I don’t know what happened to him.
“Oh, my God, I won at home! I’m speechless. I can’t believe it. I’m terrible here, and to win here is a major accomplishment. … It’s so cool to win in front of your home fans, and I thank all of them that came out tonight.”
Vickers led Busch into Turn 3 on the next-to-last lap and slipped in the corner. Busch drove to the inside, and Vickers side-drafted the No. 18 Toyota and forced him down onto the apron as the cars roared out of Turn 4. With momentum to the outside, Keselowski made it three-wide as the cars took the white flag for the final lap.
Keselowski crossed the finish line .199 seconds ahead of Vickers, with Busch a close third. David Ragan and Kevin Harvick finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Busch took issue with the way Vickers had raced him on the final two laps and confronted him on pit road after the race.
“Oh, man, I am so sorry — I forgot it was the Kyle Busch show,” Vickers said sarcastically, after climbing from his car. “Hell, I thought we were racing for a win. … I thought it was my job to hold him off. Apparently not. He came over to the car after we came in and knocked the fender in, which was unnecessary, and then started crying like a little baby.
“I asked him if he’d give me a minute to get out, and we could talk about it like men. If he wanted to fight, that was fine with me. When I got out, he ran off. It’s a shame that it went down like that. We were racing hard. I thought it was a good race. Congratulations to the 88 (Keselowski). He snuck around both of us. I didn’t see him coming.”
Busch thought Vickers should have given him room and let the two strongest cars battle for the win.
“It’s so frustrating that you can’t have a guy race you clean,” Busch said. “He was on our right rear quarter panel all the way down the front straightaway and gave the win to the 88 car. He slowed us down so much — he had no idea the 88 car was coming, and the 88 just drove right by both of us on the outside, because Brian Vickers was trying to slow both of us down. Just stupid.
“If he would have ran his own line up at the top of the track, and I had run my own line down at the bottom of the track, it could have been us two. But, unfortunately, you race with idiots, and I guess you’ll have that sometimes.”
An accident on Lap 3 put a damper on Edwards’ 30th birthday celebration. Edwards was three-wide on the outside in Turn 2 with Trevor Bayne in the middle and Brad Coleman on the bottom when contact between Edwards’ Ford and Bayne’s Toyota sent Edwards into the marbles at the top of the track.
Edwards fought to regain control, but the cars touched again and Edwards slammed nose-first into the outside wall. The impact eliminated the No. 60 Ford from the race — the first time Edwards has failed to finish a NASCAR Nationwide Series event since May 2008 at Darlington.
“I saw the replay, and it definitely looks like I didn’t give Trevor enough room,” said Edwards, who held second place in the standings but lost touch with Busch, the leader. “I drove in and kind of pinched him down.”
Notes: When Busch passed Vickers for the lead off Turn 4 on Lap 14, Busch extended his streak of NASCAR Nationwide Series races led to 20, advancing the record 19 he had shared with Sam Ard. … Busch’s record streak of finishing either first or second in Nationwide Series races ended at 10.

Unity, Maine – Fred Brown of Winterport outran all troubles developing behind him in a wild Late Model feature, topping the Friday night racing card at Unity Raceway. Steve Rackliff of Starks and Bradley Bosworth of Clinton each won a pair of feature races, with other victories posted by Glenburn’s Steve Moulton, Unity’s Dustin Hubbard, Veazie’s Kyle Gallant, Skowhegan’s Justin Moore, Molly Feeney of Hope and Henry Boudreau of Winterport.
Friday night at the fights is scheduled for August 21st, but the top-tier Late Model racers took the gloves off even before the green flag flew. Joe Allard and Joey Doyon were done for the night before a lap could be completed, then later in the event point leader Frank Moulton had his car destroyed in an altercation which produced a black flag for David Folsom II. That incident took place just a handful of laps after Folsom and Moulton got together, with Folsom spinning from the lead.
Fred ‘Pee Wee’ Brown took charge of the Late Model main event after Folsom’s demise and drove to victory lane in his first appearance behind the wheel of a stock car this season. Phil Richardson of Carmel, who finally cured mechanical demons that had plagued him in his previous Unity Raceway appearances, dove to an impressive second-place finish, with early leader Picard claiming the final podium position. Ajay Picard of Palmyra finished fourth, with Jerry Robbins, Jr. of Montville rounding out the top five. Moulton won the heat race.
Steve Moulton took the lead from semi-teammate Kris Watson of Hermon and held on to the top spot for the balance of an extremely-competitive Super Street division main event. Vassalboro’s Ed ‘Fubby’ Drake overcame a couple of apparent miscues to take second away from Watson, who did hold on for third-place laurels. Shaun Austin of Norridgewock came from the back of the pack three times to finish fourth, while Orrington’s John Kalel II was fifth under the checkered flag. Austin claimed the heat race victory.
Unity’s Dustin Hubbard, the reigning division champion, took advantage of a front row starting position and romped to victory by a wide margin in the Wildcat feature race. Frankfort’s Bobby Seger drove from the rear of the field to second position early in the race, easily holding on to that spot despite being unable to chase down the hometown teenager. Burnham’s Brent Chase raced hard to claim the third-place trophy. Chris King of Burnham finished fourth, followed by Luke Rickards of Anson. Hubbard scored in hear race action.
The Late Model Pro Four class had a pair of feature races, the first a 30-lap double-pointer held over from a rain-shortened card earlier this season. Steve Rackliff of Starks won both main events.
The first Pro Four feature was a thriller right down to the wire, with Rackliff just edging past Benton wheelman Jimmy Dennis under Bo Overlock’s checkered flag. Rackliff led, just about the final five feet of the 10-mile contest. Bryan Lancaster of Skowhegan filled the show position in the opener, with the top-five filled out by Corey Walker and Ben Nile.
Rackliff’s second score of the evening came after he prevailed in a long and spirited match-up with eventual runner-up Norm Cummings, Jr. of Augusta. Walker finished third to wrap up his 33rd birthday. Lancaster and Clinton’s Tim Robinson completed the top five rundown. Robinson claimed the checkered flag in the heat race.
Justin Moore outran Augusta’s Cody Sleeper to win the Flyin’ 4 feature event. Skowhegan’s Mike Mason drove from the back of the field into the lead in the race, but spun in front of the field in speedy-dri laid down for fluids spread on the racetrack earlier in the event. Moore lost a lap as a result of the spin, but put on a show charging from the back once again to pass all but the first two finishers in the closing laps, finishing eighth. Skowhegan’s Jordan Hawes picked up third-place spoils ahead of Sidney’s Nick Lizotte and Chris Williams of Oakland. Moore and Mason won the heat races.
Molly Feeney of Hope prevailed in Ladies division competition. Feeney held off all challengers following a restart after she inherited the lead from Mika Wilson, who spun off the backstretch trying to hold off the challenges of Feeney and Shelby Kimball. Wilson charged from the back of that restart lineup to finish in second position, with Bucksport’s Kayla Allen’s aggressive drive netting a third-place finish. Samantha Letourneau bounced back from a wild ride into an infield sand trap to finish in fourth position. Carol Wilson, Mika’s mom, was fifth at the line.
Bradley Bosworth swept Teen Thunder feature event action, and won the heat race to complete the trifecta. Like the Late Model Pro Fours, the kiddy class kicked things off with a previously-postponed double-point race, followed by a heat race and their regularly-scheduled main event.
Cole Robinson of Clinton and Gage Landry of Sidney claimed second and third positions in the first race, with fourth and fifth going to Cornville’s Matt Kimball and Brooke Getchell of Pittsfield.
Landry, Getchell, Daymon Dodge of Troy and Robinson filled out the top-five in the regularly-scheduled feature race.
Henry Boudreau led wire-to-wire in the Enduro race closing out the night’s action. It was a career-first trophy dash victory for the happy Winterport driver.

Barre, VT – Charlotte’s Rich Lowrey won for the second time in three events in the Late Model division at Thunder Road International Speedbowl. Lowrey’s win on Pepsi Night was his second feature win of the 2009 season, along with his win last Thursday night, August 6. Dave Whitcomb led the majority of the race before losing the battle with Lowrey in the final two laps. Whitcomb held on for second followed by Jamie Fisher in third. Grant Folsom and Cris Michaud rounded out the top five. Jean-Paul Cyr widens his lead in the championship point standings with his sixth place finish. Nick Sweet finished seventh followed by Matt White, Craig Bushey and Jerry Lesage.
Hinesburg’s Bobby Therrien won his second career NAPA Tiger Sportsmen feature after surviving a wild final lap. Therrien took over the lead with just under five laps remaining and weaved his way through a wreck on the final lap to take the win. Matt Potter just beat Derrick O’Donnell to the line to claim second with O’Donnell third. Young Cody Blake finished fourth followed by Joe Steffen in fifth.
Martin Ingram of Essex Jct. captured his first career Allen Lumber Street Stock victory on Pepsi night. Ingram started on the pole but had to battle the entire race to hang on for the win. Rookie Tucker Williams finished second followed by Michael Moore in third. Greg Adams came home fourth followed by another rookie Danny Doyle in fifth.
Donnie Yates of North Montpelier was the top finishing Power Shift Junkyard Warrior for the second night in a row. Yates was chased to the line by Ken Christman and Kevin Wheatley for the Warrior top three.
Next Thursday, August 20 is the second to last nightly event in the 2009 50th Anniversary Season at Thunder Road International Speedbowl. All four divisions will be in action plus there will be a poster contest for kids. Post time is set for 6:30 pm.

Naples ME (8/15/2009) The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) National Championship trail winds north to Scarborough Maine’s Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Saturday and Sunday September 12th and 13th, and Hollis Maine PASS North standout Richie Dearborn has filed the first PASS 300 entry.
Dearborn and his family-focused race team have supported the PASS North super late model series from day one. When PASS made its debut at Lee USA Speedway in 2001 Dearborn raced home third. Prior to 2009 he has recorded 3 wins (6th all time) 22 top five (7th all time) and 55 top ten (4th all time) finishes. His 2009 season has had its ups and down, but the team has persevered to record five top five and nine top ten finishes in the first ten PASS North events. That consistency has Dearborn in fourth place in the season long standings, seventy five points behind series point leader Johnny Clark. The PASS 300 will award both PASS North and National Championship points.
Dearborn and his Chadwick-BaRoss sponsored team will be seeking their first Beech Ridge PASS victory and the $10,000.00 winners’ share of the purse when the speedway hosts round two of the PASS National Championship Series. The big weekend is still a month away, but already there are confirmed entries from Wisconsin (Tom Schuette) North Carolina (Jay Fogleman, Ryan Blaney, Mark Gibson) and a host of PASS North regulars from Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Vermont.
Ben Rowe leads the PASS National Standings by a scant two points over Jeff Fultz. Ryan Blaney, Trey Mitchell and Hal Goodson sit third through fifth.
The weekend will feature two days of non-stop racing. All series and divisions will qualify on Saturday and the Wildcats, Road Runners and Legends will have feature events. Sunday kicks off with the PASS 300 “B” main for the super late models. Then, its 100 laps for the PASS Sportsman division, a 50 lap showdown for the PASS Mods and the grand finale, the PASS Super Late Model 300.

(Shediac, N.B.) — The Maritime Super Series for Sportsman 75-lap feature race along with the Atlantic Open Wheel (AOW) Modifieds will be part of the action-packed stock car racing event this Saturday evening, August 15th at the Centre for Speed (CFS), Atlantic Canada’s Super Speedway and “Metro Moncton ’s Playground of Power”. The event, which starts at 7:00 p.m., will also include regular Southeast Challenge Series points racing for
Streetstock, Mini Stock and Four Fun division racecars. The Maritime Super Series for Sportsman 75 will feature top Sportsman drivers from throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia battle it out in the third race of the series involving events at both the Centre for Speed and Riverglade Speedway. Defending series champion, Claude Gaudet (#22) of Grand Barachois heads into the event in top spot with a 6-point lead on Stephen Halpin (#03) of Saint John . Marcel Maillet (#25) of Ste-Marie is enjoying his strongest season in recent memory as he sits in third spot in the Super Series standings, only two points behind Halpin. Four drivers are tied for fourth spot in the standings each, all one point behind Maillet. They include Marc Gautreau (#99), Ken MacKenzie (#95), Dan Bourque (#15) and Bert Cormier (#3). Luc Bourgeois (#88) rounds out the top five. Saturday’s event will also mark the first visit of the Atlantic Open Wheel (AOW) Modifieds Tour competitors to the CENTRE in 2009. This highly competitive series always puts on a great show on the wide oval of CFS. Admission for Saturday’s event will be $15 for adults and $5 for children 5 to 15 years of age.
