SALEM, IN, June 29 – Racing returns to Salem Speedway Fueled by the Hoosier Lottery on Saturday, July 4th, as the Firecracker 200 presented by the Scott County Visitors Commission continues a holiday tradition on the famed southern Indiana high banks.

The 26th annual Lucas Oil Great American Stock classic, paying $5,000 to win, also includes the Freedom 50 for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Pure Stocks and the Independence 50 for the Portland Recycling Front Wheel Drive Stocks.

Griffith Becomes Sixth Different Winner at Star Speedway

fasrnxcEPPING, NH – Derek Griffith fended off two late restarts to, and a hard charge by Mike Parks, to pick up his third victory of the season, in the Star 100 at Star Speedway.

Griffith shot out to the lead early, with Matt Frahm in tow. Frahm seemed to be the only car that could give Griffith a run for his money early, but his Alphacon/Lambert Roofing automobile shut down on lap 45, forcing the Hampstead, NH driver to retire from the race.

REIGNING CHAMPION DJ SHAW SCORES FIRST PASS NORTH SLM VICTORY THIS SEASON AT LEE USA SPEEDWAY

dfghchvcbLee, NH – DJ Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire raced past early leader Derek Ramstrom of West Boylston, Massachusetts and drove to his first AIM Recycling USA PASS North Super Late Model victory of the 2015 season Friday night at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH.

Shaw, the reigning champion of the series, fought an overheating Precision JLM-sponsored racecar in the early stages of the race, and survived long bouts with lapped traffic during a 120-lap green flag stretch to claim first-place hardware at the MacDonald family’s racetrack.

Pitkat Doubles At Stafford With VMRS Win

vmrslogo1Stafford, CT. – Hometown driver Woody Pitkat laid the foundation for a possible season sweep Friday night, when he captured the 80-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series event at Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford, Connecticut.

The win was Pitkat’s second career VMRS victory. both at Stafford, setting the stage for a possible ‘hat trick’ when the series returns to the famed half-mile oval Friday, September 4.

Leon Gonyo Long Gone in Hometown Heroes Romp at Devil’s Bowl Speedway

WEST HAVEN, VT – Leon Gonyo made short work of the 35-lap Bond Auto Parts Modified feature at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Friday, June 26, storming to his first victory of the year at the Rutland County speed plant. The veteran Chazy, NY stock car driver, 10 days shy of his 63rd birthday, dominated the “Hometown Heroes” race presented by Rutland Regional Medical Center, the Vermont Army National Guard, 105.3 Cat Country, and Whelen Engineering. Other winners included Todd Stone, Robert Gordon, and Chris LaVair.

Rocco, Fearn, Ferrigno, Provost, Hayes, Trott, & O’Connell Score VRMS 80 Feature Wins at Stafford

etrdhfg(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway returned to NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing action with the Valenti Modified Racing Series in the house for the 5th Annual VMRS 80. Taking down weekly feature wins on the night were Keith Rocco in the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, Tom Fearn scored in the 30-lap Late Model feature, Joey Ferrigno in the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature, Andrew Hayes in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature, Tyler Trott in the 15-lap DARE Stock feature, and Devin O’Connell was the winner of the 20-lap Legend Cars feature.

ACT Oxford Plains 150 Postponed

ACTWaterbury, VT – The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Oxford Plains 150 at the Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, ME has been postponed due to impending inclement weather. The event has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 25.

The classic championship battle shaping up between New Hampshire veterans Wayne Helliwell Jr. and Joey Polewarczyk Jr. will go on hold until July 25. Helliwell currently holds a 17-point margin over “Joey Pole”, with each driver winning three events so far on the 2015 season.

Packard Eager as ACT Returns to Oxford Plains Speedway

ACTEAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – This weekend marks the return of the American Canadian Tour to Oxford Plains Speedway, and the 18-year old Emily Packard is eager to return to the track. Earlier this season, Packard and her 9ME Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels car raced OPS for the first time, and the end results was a fourth place finish. “I liked racing at Oxford, it’s a unique track and different than other tracks we run,” Packard said. “It’s a low breaking track and it has really helped me to calm my breaking, so I can better attack the track. I am definitely looking forward to returning to race there.”

Corliss Back in Victory Lane on North Country Federal Credit Union Night

(Photo by Leif Tillotson)Barre, VT – Local driver Jason Corliss continued his resurgence after a tough start to the season by winning the North Country Federal Credit Union Late Model Trophy Dash at Thunder Road on Thursday, June 25.

Corliss started fourth and took the lead from Matt White on lap 29 of the 50-lap event. He then held off a late charge from sophomore competitor Josh Demers to earn his first win of the year and third of his Thunder Road Late Model career.
