Under constant cloud cover and light drizzle the NEMST along with its primary sponsors Texas Roadhouse and Twisted Tea kicked off its 7th season at Lee USA Speedway. Twenty-Two tour style mini stocks anchored the infield of Lee, New Hampshire’s fast 3/8 mile speedway. In morning practice it was evident that there were numerous cars running in some very tight brackets and would make an excellent race.
Just after 1:00 P.M. the first of two Environmental Engines heat races rolled out with Toby Wells taking control in heat 1 and Joe Baxter surviving a late race battle with Nick Anderson to secure their first wins of the season. Wells drew a 5 row invert for the feature setting him up for a 9th place starting position in the 22 car feature.
Wiscasset, ME – On Saturday, the Amsoil NELCAR Legends Tour kicked off their 22nd season of racing with the first of a tour-high nine races at the fastest oval in the State of Maine, Wiscasset Speedway. With both drivers and fans eager to get to the track and put the cold, snowy winter days behind them, Opening Day 2015 promised to be a great showcase of racing action!
A healthy mix of returning veterans and rookie contenders filled the pit area, as 13 cars were on hand to get the season started. A random draw set the field for the 10-lap heat races, with the finishing positions from the heats determining the lineup for the 25-lap feature event.
Pennink & Bennett Score Napa Auto Parts Spring Sizzler Sunday Feature Victories At Stafford
(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Motor Speedway’s 44th Annual NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler Weekend continued on Sunday with feature events for the SK Modified® and Late Model divisions. Rowan Pennink scored the win in the 40-lap SK Modified® feature and Michael Bennett took the checkered flag in the 30-lap Late Model feature event.
In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, Todd Owen led the field to the green flag and he led the first 3 laps before Ryan Preece moved to the front. Eric Berndt started on the outside pole, but slipped back several spots on the start before settling into line in 7th place. Owen was second behind Preece with Joey Cipriano, Dan Avery, Keith Rocco, Rowan Pennink, and Glen Reen making up the top-6 in front of Berndt in 7th. (more…)
13th Annual Upper Valley car show huge success
Sneak peak sees only the icing of what can be expected opening night May 2, 2015
BRADFORD, VT – The Bear Ridge Speedway 13th annual Upper Valley car show hosted by the West Lebanon Home Depot presented several beautiful 2015 machines ready to take the quarter mile Bear Ridge Speedway.
The parking lot area was packed with machines from every division that hit the Ridge. 2014 DIRTcar Bond Auto Sportsman Modifieds Rookies DJ Robinson and TC Forward were on hand, along with Dirtcar Sportsman Coupes 2014 track champion Jason Colbeth and veteran Buster Kathan. Mike Chaffee 2014 Sportsman of the Year represented the USAC DMA Dirt Midgets. A compliment of additional Sportsman Modifieds, Sportsman Coupes, Limited Late Models, Four Cylinders, Sprint Cars of New England and the Granite State Mini Sprints helped round out the representation. Along with the fast machines of the Ridge several Car Nutz old time beauties were on display as well. (more…)

COLLINS WINS LATE MODEL SPORTSMAN SEASON OPENER
There was a bustle at Wiscasset Speedway as a pit area full of drivers and crew prepared for five exciting races to please the fans gathered in the grandstands. Despite a nip to the air, hundreds were at the track, to both watch and participate in short track racing. On the line up were the group two division, including Outlaw Mini’s, Late Model Sportsman, Strictly Streets, and Wiscasset’s newest addition, Modified. The flex race of the week were the super-fast Amsoil Nelcar Legends.
The Outlaw Mini class was the Spotlight feature of the week. The Mini’s competed in a thirty-five lap event. Heat winner, Cody Tribbet, of the #13 started at the pole. Behind him was George Fortin of the #9. Fortin leapt to the lead early in the race, and looked out his rear view mirror at his competitors trying to catch up for the remainder of the race.
Starting in third was the #10 of Jimmy Childs. Childs lost position to the #34 of Justin Trombley during lap one. Trombley looked for his opportunity to claim second, but couldn’t gain an advantage over Tribbet until lap twenty-five, when he managed to get underneath Tribbet and complete the pass for second. Fortin had a commanding lead, and Trombley did not have enough time to challenge Fortin for the win. Fortin took the checkered, with Trombley placing second. Tribbet rounded out the top three. Burnham, Saunders, Dembek, DiMatteo, & Turbush Score NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler Saturday Feature Victories At Stafford
(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Motor Speedway opened its doors for racing in 2015 with feature events for its SK Light, Limited Late Model, DARE Stock, and Legend Cars divisions as well as the Mr. Rooter Truck Series as part of the Saturday NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler Weekend festivities. D.J. Burnham took the checkered flag in the 20-lap SK Light feature, Al Saunders was the winner of the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature, Dan Dembek won the 15-lap DARE Stock feature, Cory DiMatteo won the 20-lap Legend Cars feature, and Roger Turbush won the 20-lap Mr. Rooter Truck Series feature.
In the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature, several cars got out of shape mid-pack and Pete Lopuch ended up spinning in turn 1 to bring the caution out. (more…)

THOMPSON, CT – After two full days of racing at the 1.7 mile road course at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, the inaugural victors have been crowned at the Icebreaker, Road Race Style.
John Raudat looked to be the car to beat in Group 1, the Spec Miata/Improved Touring B (SM/ITB) Class. The Madison, CT driver continuously posted the fastest lap in practice, and set the record for qualifying at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in an Outside the Box (OTB) Promotions event in the (SM/ITB) division, with a 1:23.644 circuit. Raudat followed Farmington, CT resident Rick Bennett for the majority of the race, keeping Bennett’s bumper within striking distance. The lead changed when Raudat worked his way around Bennett, but transmission problems ensued, ending the day for Raudat. Bennett would hold on for the win, becoming the first winner in an OTB Promotions event. (more…)
