Lee USA Speedway 6-27-14 Race Report

Lee, NH – The battle for the 2014 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season championships continued at the Lee USA Speedway Friday night, with Groveland, MA racer Mike Murphy collecting his first win of the season in the EKeys 4Cars Supermodified feature event.

Jimmy Russell of Brentwood scored his second straight win in the Prime Storage and Warehouse Late Model Sportsman main, Dennis Dumas grabbed his third win of the year in the David’s Race Cars and Components Hobby Stocks, and both Adam Knowles and Jessie Tellier doubled up in the Ironman main events.

In addition to the weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series competitors, the stars and cars of the Valenti Modified Racing Series were on hand for the first of their two events of the 2014 season, with an impressive field of entries entertaining the crowd with a fast-paced 100-lap main event.

Donnelly big winner for the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds madness event. Jason Colbeth finally gets first win of the season in DIRTcar Prostock Sportsman Coupes

BRADFORD, VT – The annual Bond Auto Parts 4th of July spectacular with Modified Madness provided the packed house with over 200 laps of racing excitement Saturday night June 28, 2014. The DIRTcar Bond Auto Parts racing over 100 laps for their biggest purse of the season of over $9,000.00.

The drivers brought in over 200 sponsored laps for their double points madness night in the DIRTcar Bond Auto Sportsman Modifieds. Starting the first segment on the pole with his most laps collected status was Jason Gray, with Chris Donnelly Orford NH alongside. When the checkers waved on segment one Donnelly was the winner with Gray in second. From the first segment 21 of the 25 cars would be inverted for the second segment line up with the additional three completing the field. Tim Hodge being the unlucky finisher in segment one was able to capitalize on his then pole position in segment two and capture a huge chuck of the lap money for the segment and come home the winner. Segment three was Gary Siemons and Ryan Christian Canaan NH to set the pace on the field. Siemons led a majority of segment three until late in the event when Christian was able to capitalize on a bobble by Siemons and take over the lead. Christian in only his sixth outing in the mighty mods was able to survive two restarts to claim the final segment win. When the final results were tallied Chris Donnelly was declared the overall winner with Derek Barker in second and Adam Pierson in third. Rounding out the top five were Mike Gendron and Kevin Chaffee.

FORTIN IS SIXTH DIFFERENT OUTLAW MINI WINNER AT WISCASSET

Last Saturday at the Wiscasset Speedway was warm and sun filled.   Fans lined the bleachers to watch the group one division of racing.  There was exciting racing action, and racing continued into the warm evening as the big lights of Wiscasset illuminated the track.  Group one racing included: Prostock, New England Four Cylinder Prostock, Outlaw Mini, and Napa Super Street.  The flex race of the week was an exhibition of modified race cars.  During intermission the Woodside One Wheelers provided a unicycle race, and performed for the crowd.  The night’s action would hand the division winners their first checkered flag of the year.  For two of them it marked their first career win.

First on the track was a twenty-five lap Napa Super Street event.  Starting on the pole was the #48 of Dan Nessmith.  Behind him was the #06 of Zach Poland and the #2 of Josh Bailey.  When green flag racing began, Bailey passed Poland right off the start for second.  Poland went into a spin coming into turn two and the #88 of Jamie Norton moved to third. Waterford Speedbowl 6/28 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Results

Waterford, CT (June 28, 2014) – Seven racing events were on Saturday
night’s card at Waterford Speedbowl, settting the stage for an action
packed night of motorsports. Picking up NASCAR Whelen All-American Series
wins included Keith Rocco of Berlin in the SK Modifieds®, Vin Esposito of
Seymour in the Valenti Auto Mall Late Models and Corey Barry of Plainfield
in the SK Light Modifieds. Ryan Waterman of Danielson picked up an
exciting victory in the Street Stock race and Garrett Denton of Hope
Valley, RI checkered the Mini Stocks. Mike Christopher Jr. of Wolcott won
another INEX Legend Cars feature and Ledyard’s Corey Coates won the
visiting New England Truck Series race.

Canadian speedster, Alex Labbe scored an impressive victory this past Saturday night at Autodrome Montmagny in Montmagny, Quebec, as he held off a race long challenge from Cassius Clark to secure the win.

One of the biggest stories of the night was just as DJ Shaw pulled onto the starting grid for the main event, something broke on the potent #60 and the oil pump seized up. Fortunately they made a quick deal with Michael Lavoie and he was able to start the race from the back of the field.

Gordon, Bradford, MacMichael repeat; Watrous a first-time winner

WEST HAVEN, VT – An action-packed night of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock car racing at Devil’s Bowl Speedway was capped by an unpredictable finale and two first-time feature winners. Johnny Scarborough and Todd Stone split victories in the top-tier Modifieds as Chuck Bradford and Kyle Watrous each won Mini Stock features, and Robert Gordon and Scott MacMichael repeated in the Renegade and SK Light classes, respectively.

Johnny “The Jet” Scarborough of nearby Bomoseen, VT was a convincing winner in the first of two 25-lap feature races for the Bond Auto Parts Modified division. Scarborough took the lead from rookie Jason Reome on the sixth lap and sailed to the victory in a caution-free race. It was Scarborough’s first win at the track since June 20, 1999 and his first in the NASCAR-sanctioned asphalt era. Veteran Leon Gonyo of Chazy, NY finished second with young gun Jason Durgan of Morrisonville, NY third. Joey Roberts and Vince Quenneville, Jr., completed the top five runners.
