Target Chip Ganassi Racing teammates Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon hit speeds of 170 mph during MoveThatBlock.com INDY 225 practice sessions and wrapped up the day first and second on the speed chart. Franchitti, who will pilot the No. 10 Nikon car Sunday, led the way turning a lap time of 21.566 seconds at 171.099 mph.
“I think that qualifying is going to be a huge factor this weekend,” said Franchitti. “Right now the track is about one and a half lanes. So you can pass, but it is going to be difficult. Starting up front will be important. If you have a car that can use both lanes on Sunday you will be in a position to win.” (more…)

Lance Rabtoy Takes Renegade Win, Tucker Williams Earns Fourth Tiger Win at Thunder Road
Barre, VT – Tucker Williams of Hyde Park picked up his fourth Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen win of the season, while Lance Rabtoy of Fairfax earned the Airborne Renegade win during Thunder Road’s Triple 50s on Thursday, August 11.
Williams led the majority of the Tiger 50 lapper, while holding off rookie of the year contender Kyle Pembroke. Williams led through several restarts including one with just five laps to go. Pembroke put up a fight on the outside but eventually slid to third as Brendan Moodie took second. Scott Coburn and Dylan Payea completed the top five. Jason Allen, Eric Badore, current point leader Derrick O’Donnell, Matt Potter and Shawn Fleury completed the top ten. (more…)

THE STORY
Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, heads to the first ACT Late Model Tour points race ever held at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the ACT All-Star Challenge on Friday and Saturday, August 12-13. The race will be run in two segments, one 25-lap segment and one 50-lap segment. Theriault, who sits tied for seventh in the ACT standings, will make his 2011 Tour debut with his family-owned team fresh off a season-best fifth-place finish at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway last time out. Theriault competed at New Hampshire as a rookie last season, one of just three dozen drivers invited to compete in an ACT-sanctioned invitational at the track in September. (more…)
