Senator Phil Scott Rebounds with Win at the “Nation’s Site of Excitement”
Barre, VT – Montpelier’s Senator Phil Scott led flag to flag in the Late Model 50 lap feature at Thunder Road during Sunday’s (June 13) Ferguson Waterworks twilight special. Scott rebounded from a wreck on Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day weekend, in which he couldn’t complete the 100 lap distance. It was the 26th career Thunder Road Late Model win for Scott who holds the record over Cris Michaud and Dave Pembroke who each have 15 wins.
The Senator was chased to the line by Jamie Fisher who barely edged out Cris Michaud by a fraction of a second at the line. 2010 Memorial Day Champion Dave Pembroke took fourth followed by 2010 Merchants Bank 150 Champion Nick Sweet rounding out the top five. Rich Lowrey finished sixth followed by Reno Gervais, Jerry Lesage, Joey Laquerre and Tracie Bellerose completing the top ten. Bellerose came from dead last on the 24 car field after being involved in a wreck in her heat race. The feature event saw just two cautions for minor spins.

Folsom claims checkered flag in top class at Unity Raceway
Unity, Maine – David Folsom I of Skowhegan broke a victory lane dry spell in come-from-behind style Saturday night in the headline 35-lap Late Model feature race at Unity Raceway.
While Folsom ran with the leaders throughout the event he at one point yielded the pacesetting position to reigning track champion Frank Moulton of Burnham. But Folsom was up to the task and the veteran competitor who first raced at Unity some three decades ago outgunned the young reigning king and drove to victory lane for well-deserved accolades.
